Link deserves Permanent Final Boss status over pure retirement, but either would improve the quality of quarterfinal/semifinal/final rounds.

a straight 1v1 which set up Crono+Seph/Mario+Cloud/Sonic+MM/Samus+Snake (with plenty of properly apportioned Pokemon and whatnot to try and trip up the weaker ones before they get there) would be great to predict and watch.

Best result here for the rest of the tournament is an underwhelming Draven gathering a lot of scorn stumbling into the next round. It could be a genuinely interesting tournament then.

Yes, I would be completely fine with Draven winning just barely, just as much as I'd be ok with Link winning. I just wanted this to be a good match like I knew it would be, instead of the Rally blow out everyone was expecting.
