Match CIX: (1) Link vs. (2) Commander Shepard vs. (3) Draven Previous Round Link – 60.05% Raiden – 22.09% Yoshi – 17.86% Commander Shepard – 41.60% Aerith Gainsborough – 39.64% Tharja – 18.76% Draven – 66.52% Mega Man X – 19.15% Ryu – 14.32% Analysis For the final 3 rounds we get 24 hour matches, which mean we may see trends. I kind of wish Draven did not go all out last round just to make this match a bit more interesting. Draven was able to get as many votes in 12 hours as what we would expect in a normal 24 hour match. Just seeing that was demoralizing and essentially guaranteed Draven the contest unless for some reason the rallies decide to take a day off. It is really funny to see the people that wanted Link retired so we can see a different winner are now trying to rally for Link. You can argue the circumstances are different, but it is amusing nevertheless. With Draven’s performance I doubt Link has a chance to win. If you were to poll the entire gaming world Link would defeat Draven, the issue is those people are splintered everywhere while Draven has a solid base to work with. Seeing Shepard in this match will be interesting. If GameFAQs is truly aware what is about to happen and would rather have Link over Draven they may abandon Shepard. We have seen this before where the obvious last place performs a lot worse. Should Link get some kind of a rally we could see Shepard struggling to break 10%. There are two ways I can see Link pulling off the win. The first would be to down-vote any rally threads that pop up. I do not see that being a viable solution, we do not have the power to monitor the site for 24 hours and it would not take much of an effort for League of Legends fans to outnumber us. The better solution is to make sure the rally topic that gains the most steam includes Link in the title. The average person who is not a fan of Draven, but likes Link is not going to click on a vote Draven thread, but should it be a Link vs. Draven (preferably Link is listed first) thread those people are more likely to click on it plus the League of Legend fans will up-vote it. I will say that in spite of my insistence that it's both futile and ultimately just going to make things worse, it is kind of heartwarming to see a notable faction of the board come together and rally around Link given the typical attitude towards him. --- xp1337: Don't you wish there was a spell-checker that told you when you a word out? And Draven is the furthest thing from popular. No one around here had even heard of him before, and even his own fanbase doesn't care for him as anything special. He's a LoL proxy and nothing more. Link probably going to end up closer to 30 seconds. I was hoping that the freeze would reflect something approaching a normal situation just so we could see a comically huge number out of Link to start with, because the abandonment of Shepard should be in effect from the start and pre-rally Draven is just awful so Link could have put up a truly awe-inspiring performance up there. like all the posts by people who are trying to cheat the system on
reddit. It's not actually as easy as just spamming downvotes, guys! The only way to beat the Draven rally is if you guys come to r/lol and make the thread yourselves. Seriously. A good, impartial summary of all three characters in Draven's next match, with a final blurb about how the contests do matter to some of us, and urging people to simply vote for their favourite character. Right now, the percentages are going to be massively Draven-skewed simply because that's the name of the topic! If it were 'GameFAQs Character Battle - Draven vs Sonic vs Sephiroth' (or whatever actually comes out next) with a nice run-down, I think you'd have a hell of a close match. Even today, I don't think it's cast-iron that r/lol picks Draven > Link - or at least, I don't think it would've been until the mods had to step in against downvote brigading. |

Link was my #2 favorite back then too next to Sephiroth. I wasn't around in 2K2 but would've loved seeing him win. It just got tiresome, that's all. I was a huge Yankees fan, Mattingly was my favorite player etc. 1996 was amazing. The Yankee dynasty era was amazing. But then they kind of turned around, the 90's Yankees were mainly farm system (Bernie Williams, Rivera, Jeter, Posada etc.) or smart and beloved acquisitions (Paul O'Neill). Once the Yankees just started throwing money at everyone, my enthusiasm certainly died. I mean A-Rod, augh. Though I still hated blowing that 3-0 lead to the Sox...which I suppose would compare to Link losing to Draven. Even when you've grown tired of your favorite winning, watching them lose in heart-wrenching fashion is not fun.
