My theory on what's happening with Final Fantasy this contest:

The FFVII generation for the most part is just gone now. Either they've moved on from the site or onto other games. Lots of people remaining like Final Fantasy in general, but they don't hold VII up on a pedestal far above everything else.

And without the FFVII generation, the long-standing thing about how basically nobody who's played and likes most of the series agrees on how to rank the games is surfacing. FFVII should still end up at the top of the FF hierarchy but probably not by much and it doesn't really have the juice to contend with big Nintendo anymore. FFIX is benefiting a lot because it wasn't that popular but tends to do well in favorites lists. FFVI and FFIV are through the roof compared to where they were since unlike the FFVII generation, the current FF fanbase on gamefaqs actually played and liked them. Even Gilgamesh and Ramza benefited. FFX appears stable. LOL FF games after X.

Squall and FFVIII are the big question mark. I'd guess they're in for at least a slight drop, though.

Sounds plausible. Though I'd really like to know how Ramza benefitted - he looked like the same ole weakling that he was since 2008.

If pokemon is at least somewhat transitive, then Ramza has gone from being 50-50 with Laharl in that one fourways match to beating him easily based on Squirtle and Dante.

Mario has to cut about 6.7 votes per update now. About the same as an hour ago.

Vivi's only real hope is to stay ahead or keep close until the last two updates. At that point, any kind of crazy **** can happen in either direction. And a crapshoot gives a way better chance for him/her to win than falling behind 100+ going into the last 15 minutes.
