Which charizard we talking about here?? Because he grew in strength like l block only to a smaller degree in that contest. Went from getting 57% on kratos to beating bowser and getting 48% on mario.

Terrible, sure. Terrible enough to lose to Neku? I'm not sure of that at all. I'm not saying Samus can't be indirectly stronger. I'm saying that tripling Knuckles is much less impressive when that same Knuckles just officially lost an entire hour to Catherine right now.

I don't buy Samus stronger than Mario indirectly in any year 2K5 or after.

In 2K2-2K4 she could have beaten him outright - people really forget how vulnerable Mario used to be. No one would have taken Samus>Mario if they knew how much he'd boost in 2K5. He was straight stronger than her, Samus would have needed rSFF to win.

I don't think Mario would have any issue matching this performance by Samus.

Jesus what happened to Knuckles. Considering I actually recognized the names Seifer and Celes I thought his R1 was fine. Snake still impresses me the most; almost 73% on Alucard is nuts. Samus is evidently just cruising through another round of fodder.

I filled out my bracket in the last 10 minutes before the deadline, and made a bunch of expert contest picks at that which I never updated afterward. Since round 2, my expert contest picks have been made intermittently and I think now I've given up entirely on them.

Didn't join the Guru contest because I know my bracket sucks, made as it was in the last 10 minutes. And I haven't made any Oracle picks which is a shame.

Hey I missed the first two matches (totally forgot the contest even existed) and I've still predicted everything since!

One could always go for average. And also number of top 5 picks. (I think I have two top 5's, including a number 1, and last I checked I was top 10 in average - though that was before Crono/Pikachu where I went fanboy and picked Crono even though I didn't actually think he'd win after Squirtle thrashed Dante so horrifically)

Never quit! Never surrender! Crono would be disappointed in you, red. SMH!

On a serious note, I hope you don't give up on these contests totally. I know a lot of the reasons for following them have vanished (stupid Reddit...and to a lesser extent the PokeHORDE), but you're one of the best posters here ever and if you vanished, we'd miss you dearly!

On the other hand,Catherine sucks and Knuckles is barely winning over her...which means he sucks too so it's more like Samus is just killing some fodder

Considering the amount of games he has and spin offs and iconic appeal. Mario isn't all thAt strong. He has 3 top tier games in mario 64 world and smb3 including numerous smash appearances, kart and the galaxies. Yet he's barely stronger than Samus indirectly. I think it's down to appeal. Mario is iconic but he would be crushing everything if he didn't look like a fat plumber.

The argument is a combination of Charizard having the same 2010-level bandwagon power that let him beat Bowser and give a hugely impressive performance against Mario, and Mario/Samus having more overlap than either with Charizard, thus hurting each other just enough to let Charizard slip through.

It's still f***ing Mario, though, and we know how hard he can crush Samus when he needs to. Plus, if there's anyone who can rival even f***ing Pokemon in the clutch, it would be the plumber. Just ask Crono.

The "challenge Sonic" ship sail when he let KOS-MOS get 40% on him. He likely wouldn't have beaten Mewtwo, but he "should" have beaten Phoenix. By the by, anybody know when this season's topics are going to be hitting the archives?

Analysis

L-Block is a bit of a wildcard in this match, it could finish in third or it could win the entire match. While multi-way matches in general help joke characters they all seem to have underperformed so far in this contest. While L-Block’s performance was decent it was against two weak characters making me doubtful that it could win this match.

While Auron did not look impressive there are a few reasons for the performance. For one Roxas was there LFF him, second Ocelot’s 2010 stats are likely underrated and third Metal Gear in general has looked decent in this contest. With the way Final Fantasy VII has fallen only Squall stands in Auron’s way on being the strongest non-Noble Nine Final Fantasy character. With the way jokes have been going and Ezio not impressing Auron should have no issue taking first.

Ezio did as expected while Tails may not have a lot of strength he is not a weakling. I feel the fight for second will be tough. Going by what L-Block is expected to get on Tails the match is expected to be close and should L-Block be weaker by more than the format helps Ezio will likely walk away from this match.

I am going to go with the upset and take Ezio for second. I do not have much faith in joke characters doing anything. L-Block may have a special spot for some people, but he has never looked the same ever since his magical run in 2007.

I'd say there's a possibility that Samus has just been SFFing every character in sight so far, thus hiding any potential deboost. It's like how Link looked much better in all his SFF matches in 2003 and 2010.

Though Samus SFFing the likes of Isaac Clarke and Knuckles is kinda funny considering she's infamous for being unable to SFF anything. Then again, I have a feeling she SFF'd Lara Croft in 2004.

Duke has done impressive things in these contests, that I agree. Problem is, that was all before Duke Nukem Forever came out.
