Lightning Strikes posted... Crono and Magus have to be two of the most closely overlapping characters there are. I would not be surprised if Crono took in 90% of Magus's votes. I think if you took away Crono, a larger proportion of votes would go to Pikachu, but Magus doesn't have the broader appeal Crono does. The people voting for Magus in this match are the hardcore Chrono Trigger fans, no-one else. Yeah, Crono would beat Pikachu. It's close, but in 2010 Pikachu looked just shy of Sephiroth. Cloud got 70% of Spehiroth's votes. The day after. With the other entrants exactly the same. Jesus you people. Or are Crono and Magus just that much closer than the two biggest characters in FF7? --- *shrug* |

Read my post. Your mathematical analysis is inaccurate. It's also possible to estimate the true split of Seph votes between Link and Cloud based on where Snake's votes went after the next to last day, but it's obviously wayyyyyy higher than 70%. Edit: And for posterity's sake, Cloud got 52.75% of Snake's votes based on the next-to-last day and the last day of the Battle Royale. Assuming the Sephiroth votes that went to Snake split between Cloud and Link in roughly the same way, Cloud would end up getting 80.35% of Sephiroth's votes. God,
I love how delusional the CT fanbase is. Before this match, everyone
was denigrating Pikachu for scoring only 69% against an unspectacular
fodder known as Lloyd Irving. Now everyone is singing high praises of
Pikachu, so as to make Crono look as good as possible. Also, there's no such thing as 100% overlapping, there are certainly CT fans who genuinely dislike Crono or that they prefer Pikachu over him. Crono is still strong but has certainly lost yet another minor step in the contest. --- Man is not the creature of circumstances. Circumstances are the creatures of man. |

Yeah,
I still don't think that Lloyd performance was anything amazing at all.
I'd heavily consider Zero > Pikachu 1v1 because Lloyd = Kratos is
about as far as I'm willing to go. Crono has also weakened magnificently

As
a fan with CT in my top 10 overall games list and both Magus and Frog
in my top 10 overall characters, It's a tossup for me between Pikachu
and Crono. Crono add absolutely nothing to the best ensemble cast in
video games. It took me a loooong time to convince myself to vote for
Crono in today's match (third place factor confirmed!), and that vote
was purely as a Frog/Magus/Lucca/Robo/Marle/Ayla representative. In a
1v1 day match, I believe there are enough who feel like me and would
actually jump ship that Pikachu would win. In a night match, Crono would

Now,
if Pikachu can do something wacky like beat Sora with Blue in the
match, then you've got more of a case for Pikachu being something
special, assuming he doesn't boost between rounds. But for all the hype
it looks like this division's gonna come down to the cookie cutter

I
still think Nathan Drake has a dim ray of light tomorrow. The fact that
Boss has looked amazing this year makes his own 2010 effort look
better, and he should definitely be stronger now (because Shepard sure
as hell is, and Drake and Shepard follow remarkably similar release and
exposure trends). If PTB really was supercharged last round due to his
insane stand out factor, and if he'll similarly be hampered by another
Nintendo character here which will allow Drake to stand out, then I don't find the Sony upset implausible. I say this as someone who predicted Mewtwo/Squirtle/Pikachu pretty much on the money, so hopefully that gives my opinion a little bit of heft before it's laughed at and thrown out of here. --- I am Iron Chef Chinese Chen Kenichi's greatest fan. Pikachu looked fine first round because don't Tales characters have a
pretty diehard fanbase... Like they don't have much strength but the
people that do know and like them really like them. So when you add more

I don't
think Shepard looks good now, actually. I think that performance was
terrible. I was thinking it was indicative of Aeris's strength back when
it looked like FF7 had maybe only lost half a step. Now, with Cloud

Mewtwo-Snake-Charizard finals, no way Snake doesn't win, and people actually have Snake whereas nobody has Draven (or Charizard, for that matter, so I'm fine with Charizard stopping Draven in the finals--it's probably an easier sell, anyway!) The only Poké-SFF we've ever seen was Missingno, Mudkip and Jigglypuff all being put in the same vote-in in 2010. Edit: Of course, that's only Character Battles. We did see RBY and GSC sharing a poll in the 2009 Games Contest. RBY vs. Majora's Mask vs. Metal Gear Solid vs. GSC. GSC leeched RBY enough to allow MGS into first place (a result proven to be LFF-related because the next round saw Ocarina of Time > RBY > MGS > FFVIII), but GSC did well enough in its own right despite RBY being there that most people figured that GSC could beat Majora's Mask 1v1. And then we actually got Majora's Mask vs. GSC 1v1 in GotD, and it didn't happen. --- RIP GrapefruitKing and Emporer_Kazbar. You will be missed. |
And
personally, I feel pretty certain that the fanbase would abandon Blue
in the face of an actual Pokemon. Maybe Red would hold up better as the

you believe Blue gets a significant amount of strength from basically
being Gary, I'd be wary of him in that match. He will not fold at all if

Cloud

I'd like to take a break from all this PokeFEAR for a moment to ask about the next match I'm still up in the air about. I've got Auron>L-Block>Ezio right now. Does that sound right? I'm sure Auron will pull first, but I can't get a very good read on the other two characters. L-Block wins according to 2010 xstats, but I'm sure the joke has fallen a bit.
