I disagree; even within its own series (in almost every form of media) Pikachu is still pushed as the "mascot" of Pokemon. Yeah,
Pikachu is pretty much a lock in my mind. If Crono gets past him, Blue
will be arguably even harder because Sora won't fold. If Crono can get past both, right now I'm thinking he has a great shot against Cloud. do think Cloud was hurt a bit by Frog relative to Lugia, even if he
couldn't SFF him. That just means Lugia is really bad (which we should
have already known), but Cloud's performance isn't bad because of Lugia,

Match XCVI: (16) Shadow the Hedgehog vs. (4) Leon Kennedy vs. (7) Gordon Freeman Previous Round Shadow the Hedgehog 49.76% Yu Narukami 32.59% Kat 17.65% Leon Kennedy 51.21% Albert Wesker 28.06% Oliver 20.73% Gordon Freeman 54.64% Simon Belmont 30.54% Hades 14.83% Analysis In a normal match each character is just far away from each other to not make it interesting, but they are close enough that should one of them have a change of strength that we have been seeing this round we could see an upset. Despite not getting much information out of last round I still feel confident that Leon will win the match. I did not expect much SFF between Leon and Wesker despite both being from the same series, Wesker is quite loved in his own right and even then Leon pulled about as much as Ganondorf was expected to get. I have the least faith in Gordon Freeman in retaining his strength as more people become more impatient on waiting for Half-Life 3. On the other hand he did look decent last round easily outscoring Ezio on Simon Belmont. Whether Belmont has remained around the same strength is to be seen, but it is clear that Freeman has not dropped back down to his old days. Shadow seems to be a bit underrated by the board, though considering he has not had a decent performance since 2003 I do not blame them. Still while losing to Zidane and Amaterasu is a bit embarrassing it does not mean he has no strength. While I believe he will come third I feel he may impress a few people. I am going to go with the expected outcome, but with the way this round has been going I would not be surprised if one of these characters flopped or over performed. Out of curiosity, where do we think Pikachu lands on the Pokemon hierarchy? Personally, I definitely don't take him over Charizard; and after today, I'm not sure if I take him over Squirtle. While Pikachu is the mascot of the franchise, I'm not sure how many people honestly consider him one of their favorite Pokemon. On the flip side, you really can't understate the sentimental attachments people have to the original starters. --- [NO BARKLEY NO PEACE] |

like to think that Pikachu's problem is that he doesn't represent only
RBY, but the entire series. So he will attract anti-votes from those who
see him as the face of the "milking" of the franchise. So there's

Late
in saying this, but I told you people Dante would lose no matter which
picture he got. Outside that one 4way year where he went nuts, I have
never picked a match of his wrong. Was not expecting such a murder though, holy crap. Zidane giving Dante a match if you remove Squirtle strikes me as hilarious. Also, play DMC3 if you haven't. Amazing amazing game, worth a try. KP's topic spoke true! --- Get the X out. Vinateri was using his god powers on the Pats and then was like "Wait I'm a Colt now lol" and now you have it. |

I'm kind of surprised that nobody's mentioned the possibility of
whatever's happening to these FFVII guys possibly happening to Squall,
too. I mean, his first round match is totally inconclusive because
there's no way of telling how strong Rayman is. But FFIX and FFX have looked fine, so this could just be everyone ganging up on poor ol' FFVII. Auron
will be a fine gauge of Squall against L-Block and Ezio. Ezio is
somewhat comparable to Ammy (whipped on Tails, Ammy is a little bit
better than Shadow) and L-Block is a weaker version of Missingno. If he

The
KH spinoffs have done absolutely jack for contest strengths here. Heck
if anything they've just made people even more ticked off at Square. KH3

I actually like Kingdom Hearts though...! The fact that Squall can't get cameos in these spinoffs is a little bothersome for me! Squall's kind of in an interesting position. He's involved in just about anything Square does nowadays with FF, so he stays relevant and he's not associated with an FF that wins all the time, even though a lot of people don't like it. JRPGs peaked a decade+ ago, Zelda has done decent but nothing special lately (Twilight Princess was a disappointment, nobody played Skyward Sword), and Mario has games like Galaxy and Galaxy 2 that get rave reviews yet for some reason just can't get traction on this site. Considering this site has always thrived on Big Nintendo franchises+JRPGs, no wonder we've been run over rampant by Pokemon lately. Pokemon are just basically the default option! Everything else the site likes is doing crappy. We're actually in a golden age of Western gaming, but LOL Western gaming on this site. Mass Effect, Elder Scrolls and God of War are really the only ones to make a dent, and Kratos seems to be sinking without games, while Elder Scrolls has LOL customizable protagonists.
