Just did some calculation, if i am not wrong, Cloud is currently scoring 63.5% on Frog. While I still don't buy the idea of Crono beating Cloud, i think he would at least score 45-48% in a one on one fight these day.

Analysis

This match has been getting some hype. Zidane is the odd man out in this match, while he won over Ridley by more than most of us expected he is nowhere near the level of Dante or Squirtle. He may have come a long way since getting tripled by Crono, but he is no world beater.

I am not convinced that Squirtle is around the strength of a near-elite. His performance on Ramza showed that he does have strength, assuming Ramza did not take a drop in strength, but it does not place him above the level of Dante. For example both Ramza and Laharl had a match against each other in the past and while a lot has changed since then it does not make Squirtle look any better that Dante easily outperformed him.

The major concern I had about Dante was if he took a hit in strength due to the new Devil May Cry game. While he was not in the game characters have taken drops and rises for the same reason. After his first round match I feel Dante is around his usual strength which makes me feel confident that he will win this match.

Dante is starting to get a bit of a reputation on being a choker. I personally feel he has just been on the wrong side of a couple of close matches. If he does lose this match it may provide more support that he is a choker, likely due to people voting for his design and then abandoning him when a character they recognize goes up against him.

Another thing is that Mega Man X is actually a different character from Mega Man Classic, and the same is true of DmC Dante vs. "normal" Dante. On the other hand, the various Links are all incarnations of the same character. Same with the various Zeldas. Heck, some old theories stated that the Link in the NES games is the same as the Link in the N64 games.

Red Bird would be immediately recognizable. Sunflower, I have no idea.

I'd take Peashooter > Red Bird with ease though. But yeah they'd all be weak. At least the game wasn't one of the worst of the worst in Game of the Decade, though it could have been helped by joke votes.

I think Skies of Arcadia is projected to get 57% on Plants vs. Zombies, but I could be wrong.

And yet the character with actual potential - Metal Gear REX - gets no discussion. REX is easily the strongest character not to make the field this year. I'd take REX over Liquid Snake.

Then again I suppose it isn't too likely that REX beats Jecht, and even Ken/Liquid/Chris would be tossups. Oh well.
