I can't pick Gordon because I can't believe that Big Daddy is a legit high midcarder. That's about my only logic there.

Big Daddy isn't related to Gordon Freeman. He may have never been stronger than Gordon - he overperformed based on Sephiroth/Missingno backlash. Gordon's performance on Tifa is valid on its own merits.

With Vincent bombing, I switched to Frog for second as soon as I saw Lugia's pic. Leon's isn't as bad, but it could be better. Hope it doesn't cost him.

Cloud's been eating Lugia's percentage for the entire hour. Frog's held out pretty strong the whole time.

Oh and we can probably throw in the towel for Cloud against Snake, right? Even if Pikachu or something were able to get there Snake hasn't been adversely affected by Nintendo/Pokemon vis-a-vis Cloud before. Neither Cloud/Mewtwo/Snake/WCC or Cloud/Snake/Sephiroth/Kirby seemed to faze him.

I don't think Lugia's picture really hurts it. You can clearly tell that that's Lugia. It's not like Vincent where even FF7 fans may have difficulty making the connection between the picture and the character. Leon's picture look fine to me as well.

Frog is a big first three hours character, like CT in general. He'll hold up better than people expect for awhile and then just completely tank.

I would never put this on the level of a Vincent, don't get me wrong. But Lugia looks just awful in its picture. It's completely unappealing, and a lot of Pokemon advantage is in their bright colors and appealing design. For many Pokemon, that's ALL they've got.

It doesn't really matter here either way but I expect Lugia to tank pretty hard as the match goes on. Even after the morning hits, just because it's so unappealing.

Yeah, I refuse to believe Frog holds that percentage on Cloud, but I don't really know how far he can drop.

Hard for me to try and argue for Cloud > Snake at this point.

Even if Pikachu makes it, I consider Cloud a rather sizable underdog now. FFVII just has not looked good. Some of the that jRPG power has seemingly been siphoned by Old Square or something. Whatever it is, I'm not sure, but Cloud's chances lie in being the last FF/Square entrant left. He still won it last time against Snake when he probably shouldn't have (you'd figure a 53% win over Seph should mean a win over Cloud), and I think he can do it again.

Definitely not the favorite though.

Snake's 53% was more like a 52% or less in a 24 hour match. Cloud is simply lucky beyond description that he got Samus in his 12 hour night match and not Snake. Snake would not have lost a 12 hour night match.

I'm willing to spot Cloud a few percent for it being only a 12 hour match. That means he'd have to drill Frog down to 32-33% on him to make this respectable relative to his 2010 strength. Right now Frog's got 39% so I'm not even sure if that's possible.

This of course is not including any potential CT boosts or drops, both of which are feasible (the former seems more plausible than the latter currently).

Yeah, I figured a CT boost would be in order this year, driven primarily by the smaller pool of voters versus any releases. Think it's hard to say definitively so far, but Old Square looking as good as they have points in that direction, at least. Great show from Frog here. Let's go Crono.

This Frog performance is making me seriously wonder about Crono>Cloud. Which means that, since it's CT's job to break its fans' hearts in these things, that Crono loses to Pikachu in a nailbiter.

Well he's got a ways to go but if Cloud can manage 52% I wouldn't call it under-performing. Snake looked positively ridic though - he's the clear favorite; pretty much the only explanation that doesn't involve him boosting is Bayonetta is crap, her opponents R1 were even worse, and Snake somehow PS1 SFF's Alucard... tall tale!
