http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/4532 Chell and Giygas are both fairly big anchors, so this is kinda close to a 1 v 1 match. GlaDOS 60-40s Ness, who is going to be close to Ike/Epona tier. The writing was on the wall. Maybe we should be looking at Rivalry Rumble a bit closer - it's predicted some things (Phoenix, Red/Blue) pretty well. That should have clued us in on The Boss and GladDOS (I foolishly thought that GladDOS/Chell was just a series proxy). That being said The Lawyers/Trainers were ongoing series rivalries,* so their popularities were proxies for their respective series probably. *I know that the Trainers were only really from the first game, but that same basic rivalry is ongoing throughout the series. --- "What's the matter with bootblacking? So
on this talk I saw of how are best shot to save the contest is to all
make Reddit accounts and downvote any Draven rallies as soon as they
spring up, the problem there is that most of Draven's strength seems to
be plain stuffing, not the actual rally which is just a cover story. However, maybe if we can make the cover story weaker, we can get some more investigation into things. Or maybe the stuffer(s) will lose hope. Or something. On that front - @Luster - can you use your mutant cyborg powers to create like 200 Reddit accounts and immediately downvote and Draven rally threads as soon as they pop up? We've seen the incredible apathy that most around here have developed for this contest. A contest that looks like it would have been a LOT of fun from here out otherwise. Would be so depressing to have such a potentially enjoyable contest just ruined so bad that nobody gives a damn about the good stuff. You could single handedly be our lord and savior! While
the idea of LusterSoldier single-handedly shutting down the Reddit
machine tickles my fancy, it's not terribly realistic. Draven went from
high fodder to strongest entrant ever in between matches when his
fanbase had to wait 40 days to even see him again. I honestly thought
they would have just forgotten about the whole thing given that insane
timeframe between matches. Also, his R1 rallied were spurred largely by
B8ers posting on Reddit, and most of us didn't give a crap this time
because no one had him in our brackets anymore. And yet, he still
exploded. This time, the fanbase is more pumped (some of them seemed to really get a kick out of how displeased we were getting at the result and they're probably all too willing to do it again) and they only have to wait 12 days for their crack at Link, not 40. The odds of countering something like that are simply futile. Plus, I'm going to have Draven in my Expert bracket and will be giving him like 66% in the Oracle, so hell, I might get more miffed if the rallies are a bust and he ends at 12%. --- Chen Kenichi's #1 Fan (also Yoblazer) http://i.imgur.com/gdl8lcn.jpg |
