I've
given it some thought, and I think 2003 Cloud and 2004 Link might be
the two strongest contest entrants we've ever seen (barring artificially
boosted and outside rallied entrants like L-Block and Draven). The
things those two did were just insane and I don't really buy the idea
that Link in later years beats his 2004 self. Link doesn't get 82

It's
so hard to see where Link was from 2005-8 because he was never in any
1v1 matches except against Cloud and Sephiroth. I think the Battle
Royale (culminating on the release date of TP) was as impressive as
anything he's ever done though. I've been using 2004-8 Link as equals, but if I were to use finder gradations, 2008 would be the weakest of those 5 years. Maybe by a non-insignificant amount. It's hard for me to believe that Link didn't boost even a little bit when the big Nintendo Boost came in 2005, but it's hard to tell. You can't really measure SFF, too bad Link was not in the main bracket in 2005 and 2006 In 2007 Link almost got 65% on Vincent with Zelda and Bidoof in the poll. looking better now as he's gone up half a point in America, we may be
seeing a minor ASV here. It should be mostly present in bits and spurts,
though, so I'm still feeling good about about BB unless he just tanks
