Is it me or are Link fans really boorish to the point, where they feel that there is a need to hog all the limelight. The moment someone is perceived as a legitimate threat, they will groan about such threat being a blight to the contest and how they are planning to boycott it.

As if Link winning for the next millennium isn't dooming these tournaments.

this has been explained numerous times at this point. Maybe I should make a topic and get it stickied for you guys.

I don't know. I really think Kanz is believing the things he's saying, it's just... the things he's saying!

I think he sees this as some grand movement to transform these contests into something else entirely. Where winners are decided entirely on how effective you can rally them. It's just, that's not a place very many people want to see this go.

or maybe they do, i don't know.

I think while there is a bit of a double standard (there would be a lot more cheers and reveling by the board if, say, Cloud was lying in wait next round), it isn't that drastic. People are legitimately upset about Ryu/X losing even taking Link out of the picture, for instance.

...that being said, it's not completely removed from the truth. Cloud beat Link once and he's still paying for it a decade later.

Kanz is Kanz. He isn't going to change, and I'm not quite sure what goes through his head.

My problem is that he is trying to shove some kind of ideal down our throat of "Well, it only takes one person to start a rally!" Well yeah, no s***. Then tries to act like there are site's or sub reddits that can compete with the LoL one...when there isn't, and he very well knows this because "THE MOST POPULAR GAME IN THE WORLD".

It's annoying.

Barret wasn't able to beat Layton as badly as Isaac was.

Like I said, multi-way X-stats are flawed. Just within a single match, you take the first-place character's percentage on the second place character and the second-place character's percentage on the third-place character and the first-place character's percentage on the third-place character and you wind up with the first place character being projected to score something other than 50% on itself. And the percentages for that match are especially certain to be messed up because that was the one Touhou match where no votes were removed.

Barret came in first, there's no way to change his proportion to Layton.

And besides, the votes were ultimately removed.

No they weren't. And yes there is.

Layton got 62.40% on Reimu. Reimu got 27.31% on Barret. Ergo Layton is expected to get 34.08% on Barret.

Barret got 61.59% on Layton. Layton got 62.40% on Reimu. Reimu got 27.31% on Barret. Ergo Barret is expected to get 41.98% on Barret.

That's the problem with multi-way X-stats.

Whoa.

9.20%? That's already #18 on our "25 most surprising results" list. And there are still three more rounds of this guy. If he wins it all, we have over a third of that list being taken up by just two runs (5 from L-Block's run and 4 from Draven's).

In any case, if you want to fight fire with fire. I have a strong suspicion that bandwagoning Shepard, not Link(as mush as that pains my bracket) on /r/gaming would be the way to go. Plus in a 24 hour match, if it caught fire and got to front page of /r/gaming, it would have a great chance of being on the front page of reddit.

Just noticed that Draven/Link (Shepard, lol) takes place on Sep. 1st, which is during the PAX 2013 NA LCS playoffs. That might help Draven... but it might also mean there's too much drama (these playoffs determine which teams go to the World Championships, and the one that comes last might be relegated to amateur status) on the subreddit for the rally to stay there permanently. It's also one day after the Korean OGN final, which will definitely have at least one thread occupying a frontpage slot.

Link/Draven is September 2nd, not the 1st!

This. Battle Calendar is set to show the start time of a match, and when you initially go in it's set to Pacific Time. The match starts at 9 PM Pacific/Midnight Eastern and runs for 24 hours, so either way the majority of the match is on the second, and the entirety of it in some time zones. Heck, this being the western hemisphere, if you're in Europe, Asia, or Australia, the match starts on the 2nd and ends on the 3rd!

You know, if Epona actually got to battle Draven at some point, I'd probably imagine she would fare better than Link. She's easier to rally for thanks to her half-joke status, will be empowered by Link fans who saw Link's massacre, and she's quite beloved all things considered. Heck, if you really wanted to go the extra distance, you could try rallying her with MLP fans, and that's quite a force right there that definitely wouldn't spare Draven any of its rallied votes!

But hey, the Draven match got about 18000 more votes than Sephiroth/Missingno, making it the most popular night match in history.

Heck, if you really wanted to go the extra distance, you could try rallying her with MLP fans, and that's quite a force right there that definitely wouldn't spare Draven any of its rallied votes!

ya go my epona stable 2013

No she wouldn't. This isn't about an inflexible amount of joke voters, it's about bringing a massive influx of new votes in. For comparison, L-Block could barely get a third of the total vote in its fourway contest victory. Draven just doubled MMX and Ryu combined.

It's about raw votes, and Epona simply doesn't have enough people that will vote for her. It's Link or bust.

Kanz is the perfect representation of Reddit, f*** you got mine
take out reddit itself really, unless there really are LCS matches to draw away LoL drones on that day

It's funny that you say that, because I don't even use Reddit. So that means I am the perfect representation of it...in spite of not being a part of it. There's a joke to be made in there, somewhere.

Anyone find the humor that the person trying to start a Link rally is also trying to get Riot to link to our contest?

What's humorous? At this point this has stopped being abotu the contest for me. It's a social media experiment. Best way to do that is to get a really good live test.

Kanz has just whipped himself into a... well, it's something. It's just rebounding off of one contradictory proposal to another in an attempt to maintain interest in a foregone conclusion.

Just like Draven flopping was a foregone conclusion before his match, right?

It wasn't, and the pre-match nervousness concerning him completely invalidates your argument.

No one is nervous about your 'counter-rally'. No one. It's just tiresome theatrics.
