According to RES, the Draven thread has 220 upvotes and 57 downvotes. And that's probably a gross underestimation seeing as it's the #2 link for me now.

People really need to stop moaning and complaining about cheating and stuffing and understand the situation.

This is a potential mega rally. Like I said a few topics back, the LoL subreddit has 334,302 SUBSCRIBERS. If even 10% of the subreddit decided to vote for Draven, which really might be an underestimate considering how early it is and that there's currently almost 9000 people viewing the LoL subreddit, that's OVER THIRTY THOUSAND VOTES.

Seriously, stop whining all sanctimoniously that the contest is ruined and all that. More traffic to GameFAQs is a good thing considering how bad the votals have been this year. Who cares if it's Draven or L-Block.

I swear people have so much irrational hate for LoL that it turns them into pathetic pre-teens.

I'm not going to say all this additional traffic is a bad thing for GameFAQs or anything, but it doesn't mean crap if they just go back to the hole they came from after they finish voting and never return.

I'm not going to lie and say I predicted this - hell f***ing no I didn't - but in hindsight, there was always the potential that this kind of thing would happen. Reddit is a far, far more effective rallying tool than anything we've seen in the past. It's a site that thrives on links, and popular games have their own subreddits - sometimes with tens of thousands of subscribers apiece. Even 4chan rallies really can't touch that kind of potential.

My advice? If you want to see the LAW upheld, you should haul ass to /r/zelda and /r/nintendo come round three, and try to recruit the combined 100k+ subscribers in them. This type of rallying ain't going anywhere - it's the future, baby.

I cannot believe I am about to rally for Link to win a GameFAQs contest match.

And you know what'll happen if we do kill Draven with Link?

Enough of them will think "HEY THIS IS FUN" and stick around, leaving Snake with no chance.

An LoL fan accusing other people of being pre-teens? This is rich. Go back to babby's first Dota clone. I hear next week Riot are going to rip off another hero that's been in Dota for 10 years and charge you only $20 for it. Then you can buy some additional runes, because everyone knows pay to win games are the best. Then you can midlessly support the latest in a long line of generic, overpowered heroes over 2 gaming icons in a contest on a website you probably have never visited before.

War has changed.

It's not about nations, or ideologies. It's not even about profit, resources, or ethnicity. It's an endless series of proxy battles, fought by redditors and machines. War, and its vast consumption of human pageviews, has become a rational, well-oiled business transaction.

War has changed.

Unregistered users carry unregistered votes, use off-site links. Memes inside their communities enhance and regulate their actions. Opinion control... Information control... Emotion control... Battlefield control. Everything is monitored, and kept under control.

War has changed.

The age of deterrence is now the age of control, averting Link with weapons of mass rally. And he who controls the battlefield controls history.

War has changed.

When the battlefield is under total control, war becomes routine.

Draven update = 760 votes.

And I'm done with the updates.
This rally is working especially well because of how far GFQs has fallen over the years. People just don't come to the site anymore. So an outside rally like this from the most popular game in the world easily crushes votes from the every-day voter.

Yet, Draven winning like this is far less fun than Link inevitably winning. At least some people held out hope for Snake or Cloud; there is no hope for anyone but Draven to win now. That sounds like a lot less "fun" to me.

But yeah, at least at Gamespot they had the presence of mind to get behind Gordon Freeman instead of this guy.
