ChenKenichiFan posted... I think Kratos impressed people when he held up relatively well to Midna, but he's done nothing of note before or since. Easy losses to Diablo and Sackboy (come on), and a loss to Diddy Kong who was being held down by Captain Falcon. I don't see Lloyd doing any worse against Sackboy. I think the Big Daddy match has people forgetting how bad Lloyd is. Multiways are coloring people's perceptions here, because Leon and Dante in their fairest match in the multiways were decently close. regardless of what you think about direct Kratos A. comparisons, we
have direct comparisons from year to year with Fox! Unless you think
Lloyd boosted significantly from 2010 to 2013 (a theory which Kratos is
doing his best to completely dismantle), Pikachu isn't worth much more

In the fairest match Dante and Leon have had, Leon scored around 48% on Dante. Multiways cause a lot of variance and obscure things. Remember, Ryu beat Bowser down in a clean multiway match when not long before Bowser blew him out of the water 60/40. Let's just look at the history: Villains - Breaks 40% on Kefka in Round 1. 2005 - Lloyd does worse against Wesker than Mithos is projected to do and then gets almost tripled by Zero. Kratos Aurion loses to Diablo. 2006 - Sheena does well against Jill I guess. 2007 - Kratos does decently I guess, though I think he was too close to Agent 47. Lloyd loses to HK-47 in a match where he was the favorite to win, and Jak was close to both of them. 2008 - Lloyd got destroyed by Mudkip, Kratos Aurion came in last place in a match people were expecting him to have a shot of taking advantage of Nintendo LFF and advancing. Games 2009 - Tales of Symphonia surprised us all by...beating two casualbait PS2 games that may have been hurting each other. 2010 - Lloyd got doubled by Fox to give him his first 1v1 win in 8 years, Kratos lost to freaking Sackboy. Games 2010 - Close win over Resident Evil 5, close loss to God of War. Okay, that's just Symphonia, fine. How about the rest? 2007 - Jade Curtiss turns out to be some of the most terrible fodder we've ever had. 2008 - Jade is invited back for god knows what reason, and brings Luke von Fabre with him. They both suck it up and turn out to be terrible fodder. 2010 - Yuri Lowell tries his luck and also turns out to be overseeded horrible fodder. Games 2010 - Vesperia loses to Borderlands, probably decent midcarder/high fodder. need another Best game ever contest. I'm really interested to see how
games like Skyrim perform. Obviously it won't beat OoT/FFVII but there's

And that results in Lloyd = Kratos, which I've already said is justifiable. But it still doesn't *prove* Leon isn't worth more in a fair, non multiway match. That picture against Ryu is arguably worse than Snake's sprites, and we've seen that it takes him from arguably the #3 character in the bracket to a high midcarder. wouldn't go far as to say CT is super popular. I mean top 10 certainly
but it's not as popular as it was 10 years ago. And as far as big gaming
site....CT has a huge fanbase amongs JRPG and retro fans. It's not some

In 2008 Lloyd was a part of the MMX/Mudkip/Lloyd/Nook (and Mudkip was probably leeching) ridiculousfest while Kratos was getting LPF'd in Alucard/Falcon/Diddy/Kratos (Diddy was definitely leeching Falcon, but didn't matter for Alucard comparisons). Trying to make comparisons there just seems ill-advised. In 2010 Lloyd got 67/33'd by Fox while Kratos got 45% on Sackboy, who then went on to post 35% on Leon. In essence you've got 32% on Leon Kennedy versus 33% on Fox McCloud. No way in hell do I take Fox > Leon. finally got Bacon to update the poll map for Marisa's match, which was
never fixed when he removed votes after the match ended. I plan on
doing an updated trend chart later on using the updated vote totals for
the poll graphs. I really hate this match. Seriously, won't someone do something? On a related note, I don't think an underdog has made a successful comeback so far. We've had unexpected results, and we've had comebacks, but we haven't had a "Omg, unexpected result is going to happen" moment during a match instead of a "Omg, expected result is going to happen after all" And as I type this, Kratos reaches his best mark since the first update. --- Harmony is peace. Peace is unity. Unity is harmony. I tell this to the King Nook. He ask me to leave. |

Jecht only got into the 2010 contest because of Dissidia and we're years removed from that now. (might have been a board rally as well, dunno) I really can't see people bothering to nominate Jecht based on FFX alone and with Dissidia less recent, they haven't. Tidus/Jecht kind of sucking in Rivalry Rumble also would not have helped. Might be worth seeing again but I'm not too excited. It's not like Liquid Snake looked good at all in 2010. And while Rivalry Rumble results may not be good for much, Solid/Liquid doing poorly there should probably be a warning sign - just like Squall/Seifer's performance should have been. Even so, I like Liquid a lot, so I nominated him...and he failed to make a 243 character bracket. He's an even bigger disappointment to me than he presumably is to his father. Call me if he ever gets a decent role in one of those Big Boss games I don't have the proper consoles to play. Until then? I might nominate him again for the hell of it but if we have any other decent options I'd recommend staying away if you want a strong returner. I'd also recommend against anyone else who's basically only in MGS1 and TTS on the basis that if Liquid sucks now, they probably suck too. --- [NO BARKLEY NO PEACE] |

It's
not that Jecht and Liquid are anything crazy good, they aren't. But
they give us good, solid, interesting matches in a bracket that is
ridiculously fodder laden. In a 64 character bracket you can see their
snubs. With 243 characters? They could have done damage in a ridiculous number of these packs just by default. Edit: Want an example? but I definitely prefer the traditional 1v1 format. Personally, I would
make the next bracket a 192-entry, where only the first round is a
