I'll have to wait for Mega Man Rd. 2 before saying anything one way or the other but I think that's a dangerous assumption to make and one that's being fueled by a desire to see MM get past Charizard in spite of Zero more than anything. --- Die young and save yourself. There's not that much tough competition to go around. If we criticize Pokemon's competition, we've gotta do the same thing to nearly everyone else. Not everyone. Mass Effect has had to go up against Sub-Zero, Epona, Cecil, and Pit, and with the possible exceptions of Epona in that group have looked very, very good - win or lose. That being said, your statement even on its own isn't a counter to the main point - Pokemon has only looked good because it's been in matches tailor-made for it to shine doesn't mean that others haven't as well. I'll freely admit that Metal Gear Solid has been put into matches tailor-made for it to shine as well. Big Boss/Peacock/Captain Viridian gave BB two of the biggest blowouts of the contest in one amazing match. Ditto Solid Snake and his weaklings. Now
that Naughty Dog has kinda usurped Sony Santa Monica's status as Sony's
A1 development team (Uncharted and The Last of Us definitely meant more
to this generation than God of War), I have to question just how much
attention Kratos's series will receive in the future. If Sony moves on
to new IPs - something they are much more prone to do than Nintendo -

Im
not sure what they'll do with the GoW series. His story is clearly
over, and GoW:A was only "just ok/decent", the worst of the series so
far. I think the whole franchise needs a change. Let it rest for a
couple years, then come back with a new mythology, new weapons(The AOE
ranged Blades of Chaos has controlled the combat flow and enemy design
for SIX games now, its time for something new), new gods to brutally
maim in QTEs, etc. Perhaps Norse Mythology or Egyptian God of War.

It's hard to know what to make of this kind of "recent trend" sort of point when everyone else argues the site isn't very influenced by whats happening right now in the industry. Dante hasn't been destroyed by having a bad game, MM hasn't had a game in a long time and is certainly in a low priority seat for Capcom and Crono has had one game ever. I mean if the GoW fans really like their game and it isn't a passing fad like mainstream western games sometimes are (GTA, Halo etc) then he should hold his strength. It's pretty bad, but not as horrid as some people think. Link underperformed by an enormous 12%, but that was the first match and set the tone for us to temper our subsequent predictions. Other bigger bombs include Barret and Ryu (8% each). I'm not sure what Krato's Oracle average is, but I saw quite a few predictions in the 60s.
