Lion and Wolf LFF, duh --- A refusal of praise is a desire to be praised twice. |

Ammy is a wolf, Squall's moniker is the heart of a lion. Animal LFF IMO --- Die young and save yourself. Brace for the G's, and fast heel-toe work. |

That's pretty lol-worthy, but like I mentioned in my previous post, TRT is the same guy who suggested that Claire would hold down Yuna enough to allow Chief through. --- Currently Playing - Super Metroid, MGS4, Brawl, FFVII, Wind Waker, RE4, SOTC |

No.
What you guys are saying is just untenable. Either you're saying that
Mario actually RSSFed Link in 2002 and that the beatdown should have
been much worse or that Sephiroth would have 55/45d Link had they met in
2003 (depending on how much you think Link SFFed Mario in 2002), a
complete reversal of the 2002 result. Neither of those makes any sense
at all. You don't need to bring out RSFF to explain strange matches. I mean, really? 2002-2004 Mario was like Sephiroth is now. Fairly strong but can't hang with the top dogs in a fair match, gets anti-voted a lot, does poorly against weak characters, is vulnerable to letting characters hang with him that by common sense absolutely shouldn't (Mainly Shadow the Hedgehog but "FREAKING MARIO" really shouldn't have ever been in position to go even with Crono in the first place), and even controversial in many of his wins. Granted, some Mario wins involved him possibly needing cheating to just barely take him over the top, while Sephiroth is controversial because of "FFVII always wins", but them's the breaks! As KH said, Mario probably took the heat for stealing a win in Mario/Crono II and so in Mario/Sephiroth 2003, Mario did more poorly than expected. Mario might also have just been weaker in 2003 than he was in 2002. In Mario/Crono I, Crono was likely benefiting from fresh outrage from Mario/Cloud, so I'd guess him still hanging there in 2003 probably implies a Mario drop, a Crono boost, both, or 2002-2004 Mario just being weird. The Link/Mario 2002 final is strange too, but unless you'd contend 2002 Mario > 2010 Mario, you have to come up with something. I can think of several explanations. Mario was actually the bracket favorite in the first contest which might have helped. We've seen strange matches in finals that don't come down to Zelda vs. FFVII at least back as 2003, when a Sephiroth fuelled by vengeance-craving Zelda fans came pretty close to Cloud, so something strange could have happened in the 2002 final as well. And since Mario Sunshine came out during Mario/Cloud, it would have still been very new by the finals. Maybe Nintendo fans were feeling good about Mario because of the new game and he didn't get SFFed. Or just more Mario fans than normal around then because of Sunshine. I dunno! And frankly, "lol Sephiroth is Mario's kryptonite" doesn't sound like any better of an explanation to me than RSFF! --- [NO BARKLEY NO PEACE] |
If Sephiroth ever crushes Mario again after everything we've seen I'm grabbing onto the kryptonite theory and never letting go --- www.dudewheresmyfreedom.com Proud to share the same beliefs as SmartMuffin |

Take
a look at Squall he would have been a noble nine buster had he not gone
up to Snake in 2002, what's worse Snake keeps coming back to make sure
Squall never gets a second wind. --- BOP Results: http://www.freewebs.com/charmander6000/CB9%20BOP.xls Points: 53/66 Today's Picks: Squall and Amaterasu |
The
only way Snake can beat Samus is if Nintendo flat-out forgets to make
Metroid sequels or releases a couple more Other M-level disasters to
sour her on the current gaming generation. Then again, Samus 2002 was pre-Metroid Prime (though it was incoming and was very highly anticipated not to mention the SSB boosts) and she still excelled. --- In Oz; cruel is the usual punishment. |
Also,
anyone else looking forward to the prediction percentages for this
round? Ammy is a huge casual bracket breaker and I expect to see less
than half of brackets picking him. --- In Oz; cruel is the usual punishment. |

While
she breaks casual brackets I don't think she will hurt them too badly,
no one really knows the other two plus she is the top seed, I'll be
surprised if she fell below 60%. --- BOP Results: http://www.freewebs.com/charmander6000/CB9%20BOP.xls Points: 53/66 Today's Picks: Squall and Amaterasu |

funny, Big Boss has one of the biggest swings depending on how close his pic looks to Snake ....by the way, this match is tracking behind the Gilgamesh match for vote totals ouch |

Amaterasu
crushes the poll, posting what I believe is the sixth highest round one
percentage so far, behind Mewtwo, Big Boss, Link, Snake and Samus. But
while the sun-god was smiling, Vyse couldn't even come close to doubling
Adol Christin. At least he didn't draw Guybrush, is all I can say. Round 1, Match 69 (8) Missingno (11) Tidus (20) Banjo Tidus was knocked out by the Cube in 2008 and he'll be hard pushed to avoid the same fate at the hands of the Poke-joke here. Missingno has looked extremely dangerous in every poll it's been in, from its vote-in to beating Crono, edging Yoshi and narrowly losing to Sephiroth. While I think there's likely an element of "playing to its opponent's level" going on in its 2010 matches, I think you can make a fair guess that its innate strength is about that of a near-elite. Even if that overrates him a bit, he should still have no problem beating Tidus. Banjo probably gets about the same on Missingno as he got on Pikachu, perhaps a little better. Let's go with... Bracket: Missingno Expert: Missingno > Tidus > Banjo Oracle: Missingno - 46%; Tidus - 37%; Banjo - 17% --- We are living our lives Abound with so much information |

Damn
Ammy is killing this! When I did my oracle I only put him at 55%
because I had Squall getting 65%, and I assumed Vyse/Adol would be about
the same or even stronger than Rayman/Video. Good to see a semi-recent (I use the term loosely) character doing so well! |

If
his stuffing rate is to be believed (3600 every 12 hours) and he
actually expended all of his effort there, then Jak would have won, but
by around 300 or so votes so that European voting was still legit. |

George Romero also took credit for stuffing in the most infamous matches of years past. He claimed to have stuffed for Samus against Sonic, Mario against Crono in 2002 and 2003, and Crono against Mario in 2004. He also claimed he was stuffing against Starcraft, but that there was a more powerful force stuffing on the opposite end, a tactic this guy appears to be using too, in not taking credit for everything. --- "What's the matter with bootblacking? So
Catherine/Neku would have been the closest wire-to-wire match in
history if it weren't for this dude? The match had never gone beyond a
94 vote lead iirc. --- Hey, its that SuperNiceDog! Congrats to the Guru 2011 winner |
Not
sure I completely buy into everything he is saying. He probably did
stuff some of those(Touhou for instance), others it just seems he is
taking credit for it because after the stuffing incident rose, we talked
about other possible matches that may have been affected by it(Missile,
Tharja, Draven, Catherine, ect). So he could have very well just glossed over that when we were discussing it and he just 'happened' to stuff those too. In any case, rest of the matches need to be watched. I don't want tainted wins. --- http://i.imgur.com/32RNLnc.gif |
