I could see Tidus being fueled by early anti-joke votes, too, and not benefiting as much as he should from the Power Hour ending. That's a bit of a stretch, but I could see it happening.

Missingno came pretty strong out of the gate and dropped hard after the first update. BRACKETZ probably kept people faithful to Missingno.

Oh, for the super early, yeah. I'm talking more like Yoshi's early start against Missingno, where he couldn't keep up his pace and eventually got drowned as the match went on.

Kefka was definitely the biggest shock of the Contest so far. At least for me. I always had him in 3rd place. I switched from Ryu to Zack at the end. Never considered Kefka for 1st once.

For what it's worth, Red's lead peaked at 666, so given this match has about 40% the votals when you factor in Banjo votes, if Missingno hits 266 it'll be about the equivalent max lead.

I don't think it really works that way. Falcon peaked at 500 and Alucard still tore his lead apart.

Black Turtle did a pretty good job.

It should also be noted that Red was building his lead over Ocelot for the first 2 hours, so if Missingno keeps adding ~10-15 votes until that time, it'll probably be well out of Tidus's reach barring shenanigans.

Not sure what's so surprising about this result. Joke characters always do well the first time through and drop off afterwards. Did people really thing Missigno was beating Squall next round?

I think people are expecting Missingno to retain his "fluctuating" strength from last time.

Which as a Squall fan, I'm still paranoid about even if Missingno barely pulls this out.

Missingno has a shot against Squall next round (assuming he gets past Tidus) because it's Missingno and the thing hasn't had a single match that made sense yet and I don't see why that would change by adding a storm and the sun.

Randomly fluctuating strength like that isn't really... legitimate. I can understand why people would want to believe otherwise, but something was fraudulent in either Crono's, Yoshi's, or Sephiroth's matches. Possibly all three.

To be fair to MissingNo., he didn't defeat Yoshi by much more than what he defeated Crono with. Unless we're speculating Crono and Yoshi have similar strength (heh), then MissingNo.'s strength is all over the place. I think the main thing against the guy as opposed to last time isn't whether he's funny or not, but whether he will be anti-voted enough. Clearly he was quite anti-voted against Yoshi, and I see little reason to see that stop anytime soon.

What I'm seeing right now is that Squall and Missingno will be really close, especially with it being a night match. And so, Ammy might just make all the difference. I think she's strong enough to not just roll over and actually drag someone down a bit, but who?

Ammy is Squall's greatest ally against Missingo. It will probably be a repeat of the Yoshi match where Mizno won't be able get enough joke support because of Ammy's legit likeability/Dog Factor. Squall could end up killing mizno there and make Ammy look really good in the process.

Ammy is probably going to end up being neutral. She'll eat anti-Missingno votes and anti-Squall votes. I'd guess the biggest impact she could have either way would be if Missingno really is going to just pull his 40% every match, in which case if she breaks 20% (spoilers: she will) Squall's done, but we won't have any idea about that until the match is over. But at that point it becomes 'ok so anything of popularity that isn't Nintendo or Square is neutral' so who cares.
