Also, does this retroactively make Barret look a little better? I find it hard to believe Reimu's rally was legit and these two weren't.

For the record, just as a random guestimate, if you drop 1000 votes from Reimu, the percentages for her match change to this:

Barret - 51.54%
Layton - 32.14%
Reimu - 16.33%

Barret looks a little better but, uh, he's still barely doing as well on Layton as Isaac did.

Yeah, obviously his relation to Layton isn't affected by removing votes from Reimu, so there's still that.

Although really, Layton has plenty of reason to be stronger since last time we saw him. He's had like, what, 2-3 new games? Plus, I'm sure there HAS to be some sort of hype for him for Layton vs. Ace Attorney. Might not be worth much, but I'm sure Phoenix Wright fans would be much more inclined to vote for Layton now than they were 3 years ago.

Also, I wonder if Max still has a shot at coming back once Europe goes to bed. He's still closer to Guybrush than Protoman was to Ike, although they're getting fewer votes per update than those two were.

If there was any legit rally I'd say it was Missile, the threads were getting hundreds of replies on multiple boards. His votes died when the threads did after about ~3 hours, he didn't even start off that well which mirrored the slow burn of the thread.

Yeah I wouldn't be surprised if Barret ultimately looked more decent and Layton significantly boosted, but there's still a limit you gotta put on that. Barret looks to be the weakest FF7 main character by far outside of, like, maybe Cait Sith, which is sad times. :(

It is sad. I've seen a lot of people who can't even take Barret seriously because they don't look past the whole "Mr. T racial stereotype" thing and don't like him just because of that. Poor Barret. In an ideal world he'd be like the 2nd or 3rd strongest FF7 character.

My ideal party is Yuffie/Barret/Cid, but you know what I went with from my playthrough topic! Too bad those 3 aren't the strongest FF7 characters on this site instead. I don't mind the others being good in contests aside from Tifa and Vincent who I think should be much weaker.

Some of his silly stereotyping aside, Barret's more important than pretty much the entire main cast aside from the Cloud/Tifa/Aeris trio for the first half of the game, and he remains prominent throughout all of FF7. I understand his *cough* 'design' isn't really in GameFAQs' niche but, man, it still kinda hurts to see it in action.

Yes. Corvo should fall prey to the Generic McDude trap, or at least he should be more likely than Jensen. At least Jensen looks like a cool sci-fi dude. Corvo...I guess people could see the helmet or the knife? Sissel's design should be more appealing to the average GameFAQs voter, plus his dog already kicked ass.

Dishonored is also not all that popular, even among 2012 games. Basically, he's in uh-oh city unless you think his helmet and knife really help him. EDIT: XFD that helmet is not helping him, unless people like skulls that much. Which is possible I guess?

I took the guest spot on the analysis crew for that match, and I have Sissel beating Corvo.

Corvo has the design like the Assassin Creed guys and that's not a bad thing.

You can't take Missile's performance into much account since most of the voters probably voted for him since he's a dog.

The thing about Sissel is that his game isn't that old either, it's only been out for 2 years, and odds are his fans are Nintendo fans who'd probably vote for Red.

Yes, but Master Chief and Corvo don't fit into that since they wear very distinctive outfits and masks.

Agent 47 predates most of the McDudes by quite a bit, and he never turned out to be the Neo-Tanner people were trying to make him in 2005. Though after Absolution, he's definitely an honorary McDude for sure.

So just out of curiosity, what would you guys consider to be a "good" performance out of Squall tonight?

I'm not really sure. I know he's facing two fodder guys. Rayman's probably a bit stronger than he was back in 2007 when he lost to Vyse, but I literally don't know anything about this Commander Video dude.

Anything above 65% would be good. Rayman should definitely get a boost a la Crash and Spyro. Commander Video I expect to be below 12%.

High 60s. I expect a lot out of Squall, given that I've traditionally considered him our strongest Non-Noble (not to say he isn't capable of beating a NNer).

I think I pegged him at around 67-68% in my Oracle.

But I always get nervous whenever he has a match because I'm afraid he'll end up looking bad! The dream could come crashing down any moment!

And before he gets to beat a Noble Niner, at that! Darn it, Bacon! Get your bracket making skills together, man!

Although if Squall beats Missingno, can we say he's beaten two Noble Niners by proxy (Sonic via Auron and Crono via Missingno)?

That'd be swell.

65% would be good, I think. He should finish in the high to mid 60's, if he is even close to sniffing 59 or lower, I might be a bit worried about his strength. I can't see Video being worth, anything. Rayman may have gotten some kind of nostalgia, better games boost though.
