Yup, it's a figure we usually see in later rounds if a major upset happens.

It's funny because MC has always been a very notorious choker aside from 2007 that happened when the series was at its peak of popularity because Halo 3 was incoming. Every other year MC bombs against midcarders and puts up mediocre wins over pure fodder.

Chief's always had strong casual bracket support, combined with the seeding difference, combined with the fact that only half the Board 8 took Yuna and I'm not surprised.

Yup, Halo is just not popular on this site whatsoever and literally every MC performance (aside from 2007 which I indicated was an anomaly due to Halo 3) has been mediocre since MC's first appearance in 2003. Any contest vet knows to pick MC only when he's against confirmed fodder.

She is not close - closer than she's been traditionally, anyway. Tifa is a near-elite in the vein of Auron, Vincent, and Squall. This is a textbook overperformance.

Just a friendly reminder that Bowser got 65% on Chun-Li in 2005 and Yuna got 60% in 2006.

Granted, both of those matches are suspect, and Chun Li has since had SF4 for what it's worth.

Well, I think we've gotta give Tifa the edge over Vincent as FFVII's #3. She holds up better to SFF and I think she'd have a better shot at taking out Ganondorf, the B-list Mario trio, and the strongest Pokemon. Vincent might have an edge against Squall and Auron though, but like... literally just those two characters.

Don't think this is true to the extent you're crediting it. Sephiroth became an anti-voted abomination after he beat Missingno.

The rest of the points are well-taken - and honestly, even I've got to give Tifa some credit because if she keeps having these 'fluke' matches like 49% on Samus and 44% on Sephiroth you start to have that outside chance that it's not a fluke.

But right now I'm heavily inclined to believe she's been getting lucky and is a fraud relative to those overperformances.

Looks like Tifa lost the board vote after all. She's turning this into a slaughter.

Seph's performance wasn't bad either - if he got 70% on Midna even with anti-votes, it looks like he's stable at least.

And yeah, Tifa is likely stronger than Vincent now. Though I still think Vincent's sucking was misleading.
