People are really getting all hyped about L Block doing a 70-30% on a Kid Icarus side character? This is pretty much a normal mid carder kinda match.

Well, going with my idea about L-Block and being stronger with stronger competition, there is a point where it's legitimately going to be the strongest in a match even with serious voters. It's essentially a curve. Against fodder, it will dominate simply by being the only thing recognizable to the average user. In the early rounds with one strong and one weak, he's at his weakest. I don't think there's such a thing as L-Block being strong or weak. He's completely dependent on the strength of his opponents relative to each other.

I was giving someone advice about driving to Cleveland last month, and I couldn't suppress the smile as I told them to avoid the Expressways at all costs.

Now I'm more concerned that L-Block will be seen as out of reach and thus a rally will be seen as pointless, which keeps Teemo where he is. Palutena is easily within rally range but the idea that there'd be a rally just for that starts to strain credibility.

That won't help, Teemo needed a rally earlier to have a chance. If one does happen in an hour Teemo would just run out of time on L-Block

Nonsense. If a rally happens at a noticeable scale, Teemo is going to steamroll the match. It probably won't but that's irrelevant to how it works.

Teemo may not have a shot at L-Block, but could get to work on second place.

This is likely. I have to insist that the Draven rally was planned well in advance, by a lot of people, and everybody really wanted it to go off so they brought out their persuasive A-Game. Like 90% of those peoples didn't even bother thinking about rallying Teemo, let alone trying.

If a Teemo rally came out at Draven's level I still think L-Block wins, I don't even think L-Block gets into too much danger either! Could Teemo get a stronger rally? Probably, I mean, I don't see why it wouldn't be possible but I don't think it's at all likely.

The Teemo rally is all about beating Palutena now! ...which is not the kind of rallying cry that i think would be very effective.

A rally won't happen until a thread is started, and takes off to reach the front page of LoL subreddit. It has to take off though, otherwise it'll just get buried.

Wasn't Draven's swing in excess of like 5000 votes? And this is with the rally stopping after a certain point. A Teemo rally on Draven's scale starting in an hour would see Teemo win. Won't happen, but still.

Considering Palutena is likely mid-fodder at best, L-Block doesn't exactly look good here.

I dunno, 70-30 over fodder is an improvement over 2010. He only managed 63.89% against HK-47 and 60.48% against Isaac (Golden Sun), and while I'd probably take either of those two to beat Palutena 1v1, getting nearly 70% on her is probably at least somewhat of an improvement.

L-Block is sitting at a higher percentage than Jak (and Teemo worse than Draven) was which suggests it would be a steeper challenge, lead aside (because L-Block should better resist a rally through non-rally votes.) It also stands to reason that L-Block would be able to steal more of the rallied votes than Jak/Chie could but I guess that is arguable. Just an argument I'd want no part in.

I really don't think a Draven-tier rally is good enough here!

you forget that L-Block would maintain a higher share of the "natural" votes, meaning that Teemo's rally has to be bigger just to pull the same vote swing

I'm actually wondering if I can back-in to the leaderboard with L-Block > Teemo > Palutena.

I have no evidence for it, but I feel like it's more likely that people took Teemo as an upset than Teemo in last.

Probably not, and I can't complain if it's a match that results in no change for me, but being this close is just frustrating!

I'm not sure what the split would be but I expect the overwhelming majority to be in the same boat as me with L-Block/Teemo/Palutena. I just need 4/15 of the people directly above me to pick Teemo, plus 1 more each for anyone with a 238 or better who went +6...and yeah now that I'm reasoning this out it doesn't seem very plausible at all. >_>

Edit: 4/14 now! <_<

I wouldn't count L-Block out next round, either. Ezio and Auron both underwhelmed in their matches and we don't need reminded about Block's multi-way shenanigans.

I thought Auron and Ezio looked fine.

L-Block has also been a surprisingly consistent entrant since its 2007 run. Unless people decide to rally around it again for some reason, Auron should have that one in the bag. Keep in mind that while Auron got 60% on Ocelot and Ezio got 60% on Tails, L-Block got 60% on Isaac in 2010.

Ezio looked fine but Auron underwhelmed. L-Block will stand out like crazy next round and New Square in general hasn't done well, so I think it's fair to keep the block upset possibility open. It won't lead to anything too scary, though; Samus will just roll through the next round anyway.
