I personally think picking Tom Nook to outright win the match is not too bad a gamble. Newer characters have been bombing in the worst way in this contest - Reyn, Dunbar, Shulk, Handsome Jack, Booker DeWitt, Elizabeth, Clementine, Lee Everett, Groose.....it's not good to be a new character in this contest, let alone a character without a defined appearance. Tom Nook is nothing but fodder, but I think the recent release of New Leaf, along with his Nintendo lineage and the fact that he stands out like a sore thumb in the match pic may be enough to put him over into the second round. --- Drop it to the floor... |

switched to Tom Nook > Pyramid head solely because I figure being
the sole Nintendo rep is good enough to pull in enough % to keep out of
last. I'm not sure it's the best comparison, but Palutena makes me feel
better about this. If Nook can get to 25% I just figure that's good. The
only problem is if Dragonborn is just awful that could leave room for that to go bad. ...But even then if Dragonborn is that bad I see Nook coming out ahead there on similar reasoning for when I took Tharja. I'll take advantage Nintendo if it comes down to 3 fodder characters. For what it's worth while I loved my Dragonborn(s) I won't actually be voting it in the contest over much of anything because that lamer guy with the iron helmet is not close to any of the characters I made. Lopen just summed up my reasons for expecting Dragonborn to be weak. Infinitely customizable characters have nowhere to go but to crash and burn. Although I already know I'm going to be disappointed because you guys have instilled me with too much hatred; I know that he's going to be stronger than I want him to be! pjbasis posted... Decided to take Pyramid over Tom Nook. ...I think it's pretty safe to take Pyramid Head for third. Though I'm hoping he can at least beat out Dragonborn! raginbull911 posted... I enjoyed FF8.. it's a hard game to replay though unless you're able to run with some of the wacky plot theories out there like Rinoa=Ultimecia and Squall is dead after the first disc and adjust your perceptions accordingly. I find the other FF's (at least before 11) to be more replayable. Ah, yes. Leonhart hates those theories. One of the preposterous things that happens when Link is ever threatened is he gets rallied, it's part of his intrinsic strength. Match LXI: (3) Dragonborn vs. (16) Tom Nook vs. (25) Pyramid Head Previous Contest Dragonborn – N/A N/A Tom Nook – 2008 8.65% against Mega Man X, Mudkip and Lloyd Irving Pyramid Head – 2007 16.18% against Auron, Shadow the Hedgehog and Chris Redfield Analysis This marks the half-way point of our contest, only 60 more matches before we crown our next champion. It is about time we got an Elder Scrolls character in this contest and while Skyrim has looked impressive in all of its non-contest poll performances I do not expect much out of Dragonborn. I believe he will have some strength, but I do not see coming close to a LFF Tifa. Lucky for him this match is easy enough for him to win even if he does flop to our expectations. I am surprised that there has not been more debate for second in this match. While he did get crushed by Bowser in the villain’s contest he did put up a much better performance in 2007. The main issue is his appearances lately have not been as big compared to Silent Hill 2. In his 2008 game he was more of a random enemy called the bogeyman. No support for that long is only going to make him weaker. Tom Nook has been a bit unfortunate in his previous contest essentially placed up against 3 Nintendo supported characters. Still the guy does not have much strength as he got doubled by Marcus Fenix in 2007, though to his defence Marcus had decent strength back then. Nook has had a couple of Animal Crossing games released since then and the series has become better known by the Nintendo fanbase. Had Tom Nook been announced to the new Super Smash Bros. I would take him for second place without much thought. I still feel he will take second, but I would not be surprised if Pyramid Head surprises us again and takes the upset.
