A = Strongest Character
B = Character Weaker than A
C = Character Weaker than B
To figure out a character's Xsts Percentage ---> [(CvB)(BvA)]/50 = CvA
To compare how C would do against B ---> [(CvA)/(BvA)]*50 = CvB
To figure out how B would do against A ---> [(CvA)/(CvB)]*50 = BvA

~*Say What? Common Stats Topic Lingo Defined*~

SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote. This is the best example of SFF we've ever seen. However take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make perfect sense.

Extrapolated Standings - The mathematical "strength" of a contestant that's determined based on their performance relative to the rest of the field. This number is typically based on the contest entrant's loss, but adjustments are sometimes made. See above for a watered down explanation for how the stats are calculated.

Ya know, the thing I do like about Isaac Clarke is that he's fully aware of how absolutely s*** his day has gone. I mean, he has seen more terrifying life-altering s*** than any normal human should have to process.

Losing to a bag of sand like this seems about right

Round 6 is over, and it had the 1st, 2nd, 4th and 5th matches with the lowest prediction percentages. Godanmit.

Hey, if Sandbag can stay near 30% on Samus then Magus will be kind of vindicated at least. That's what Frog got on her back in 2005.

That's probably a big if though

It was 2008, pretty weak year coming off the back of 2007. GTA4 and MGS4 both disappointed me to varying degrees after loving their 2004's predecessors, I don't play a lot of RPGs so had no interest in Fallout 3, LBP was creative but the actual platforming was kinda ass...we were kinda short on GotY reps that year

Personally I would have gone with the Gauntlet-meets-Doom awesomeness of Left 4 Dead, or perhaps the amazingness that is Geometry Wars 2: Retro Evolved

I feel like Catherine > Neku is one of those things some "name" user started, and said it was an obvious pick, and then somebody said "oh YEAH, you're right, totally obv" and they changed their bracket, and it just slowly spread out until it became the consensus for no real discernible reason whatsoever.

The last standing -2 (51 points) lives on and -3s (50 points) and -4s (49 points) do well. Prediction percentage tanks from then on into the 30s and 40s. This is a bit unexpected since the top tiers usual do about as well as Gurus who had 56% support for Blue. The middle tiers don't do very well with sub 30 to low 30s in prediction percentage. Prediction percentage actually goes up for a bit for brackets with around 29 points for some reason before fading out.

8 people fell off the Top 49. Ringworm, TeamRocketElite, -LusterSoldier-, AsurasKordoth, Blairville, Buzzup, creativename and davidponte did not have Blue winning the match. I'm off again by a bit. If Neku doesn't bail me out, I might not be back for a while.

12 people got the match wrong and survived. Former second place Crossfiyah, KCGemini, metaIslugg, AAAMitsugi, alblito, frodragon, greengravy294, Hitagi, Luis_Sera89, MrDew, Pondos and Rainerria also did not have Blue winning the match.

I agree with KoolAid, we never seemed to really think about Catherine/Neku

"three niche characters? well, the boobs will win!"

I don't think even boobs could save Catherine. She would need to be stronger than Laharl, as I assume Neku has risen above what he was when Laharl narrowly beat him, what with his KH appearance and his iOS port (that I have somehow seen people playing on their iPhones) AND the fact that TWEWY has had outrageously good word-of-mouth and picks up new fans all the time

So could a lesser, even nicher character than Laharl outdo Neku? The most exposure I've seen for Catherine in the past like, two years or w/e has been a joke side-tourney stream on Twitch.tv

I'm not sure what we were thinking when we all jumped on the Catherine train. I guess boobs. But we're always thinking of boobs.

HOWEVER, because I want to be fair, AND have two posts about this in a row because I love attention:

Catherine does have that Game Name factor, and there was great word of mouth, and really, on the cover of the game she is like taking off her dress and showing her boobs, so when you see her name the first thing that'll likely pop into the head of a casual is the time he saw that cover in GameStop or in an ad or something and "whoa, that's the game with the girl who takes her clothes off. I like it when girls take their clothes off. Maybe if I vote for her, she'll take her clothes off."

I do not give the members of this site that much credit

With all this Catherine/Neku talk, it'd be really funny if Vass wins.

Laharl didn't narrowly beat Neku; he won with over 56%. I still feel pretty good about Catherine - sharing your name with your game's title can't possibly hurt - but now that I see Neku looking so vibrant and Japanese RPG-y in the match pic, I'm a little nervous. Catherine just kinda blends in there and unfortunately doesn't look stereotypically sexualized enough.

I can't take Vaas winning seriously anymore after Handsome Jack lost to Viewtiful Joe

They're like the same thing

Well reviewed, top selling modern FPS games with memorable villains that are introduced early on and are featured prominently afterwards

Except Jack is funny and Vaas is crazy

So if Jack is weak, I assume Vaas is weak, or maybe even weaker than him

I had Neku, but later switched to Catherine.

Truth be told, both characters are going to be very weak. I doubt that whichever one wins tomorrow will win in impressive fashion. I simply went with Catherine on account of the fact that Catherine had a more recent hit along with an increasingly rabid fanbase. Then again, one could say the same for Neku....though it didn't help him win against Laharl.....
