Currently Fox would need 77.2% of Wolf's vote to defeat Blue by 1 vote.

Is Fox v Blue a virtual draw 1v1? Or is that still too high of an estimate of what Fox would get from Wolf?

Match LV: (1) Samus Aran vs. (18) Isaac Clarke vs. (27) Sandbag

Previous Contest

Samus Aran – 2010
78.69% against Prince of Persia
67.52% against Jill Valentine
67.31% against Sub-Zero
63.85% against Zelda
47.19% against Cloud Strife

Isaac Clarke – N/A
N/A

Sandbag – 2008
24.99% against Sonic the Hedgehog, Magus and Commander Shepard
15.15% against Auron, Sonic the Hedgehog and Sub-Zero

Analysis

Finally a new division, hopefully it is better for both my bracket and expert challenge. Samus should have no issue of winning this match. She is one of the strongest characters in the bracket and will always put up a good performance against anyone not named Link or Mario. Sadly Samus is on a collision course with Mario and she does not have any debatable matches along the way. Sometimes that is how the bracket falls.

I am not expecting much out of Isaac. Dead Space is not a popular series on GameFAQs with the first game handily losing to San Andreas. Still a sequel and a third game has been released since then, but I feel Isaac could have several releases and he will still be weak until one of those games became a huge hit on this site.

I am a bit nervous of taking Sandbag for second place with Samus in this poll. Sandbag held up decently with Sonic in the poll when we last saw him, but Samus is more Nintendo and also appeared in Melee. Joke vote characters also tend to perform not as well in their return contest so that is something that we should watch out for.

Isaac can take second place, but I feel it will be due to Samus getting SFF on Sandbag as oppose to Isaac having some strength. If Samus does pull off some SFF we could see her reach the high 60s or even break 70%.

charmander6000’s Bracket: Samus Aran > Sandbag and Isaac Clarke

charmander6000’s Prediction: Samus Aran – 63.46%, Sandbag – 22.73%, Isaac Clarke – 13.81%

I'd pick Blue to win by a smidge. It would be a hell of a 1v1 match though.

Even if Fox doesn't get that many votes from Wolf we are in the range where day to day variation could change the outcome.

I have a feeling that Rivarly Rumble is not as irrelevant as people think. Very hard to translate into actual stats, yes, but not irrelevant.

Anyway, if you don't consider RR, there is a 5 year gap since last contest. That's almost an entire gaming generation. Stats have changed.

Angry Birds really IS a thing

my dad likes it
my little sister loves it
my mom actually knows what it is
I see merch all over the mall and little kids always have angry birds (and minecraft!) shirts
there's tv commercials and a tv show coming, with talks of a movie as well
there were angry birds world championships held on a plane flying over China
there's a knock-off angry birds theme park in China too
i took a class on marketing and stuff and we looked up the hottest IPs in the world right now and Angry Birds was in the top 10

but none of that matters cuz this is gamefaqs

@ZTPLink: Ah, that explains it. The Nostalgia Brigade certainly doesn't take any prisoners, so I expect more and more newer characters to fall. Drake and Elizabeth are living on borrowed time. =P

@Fayt: Yeah, Star Fox (as a franchise) has been criminally underutilized by Nintendo, so Fox has nowhere to go but down. I don't think he's lost much strength (if any at all), though. Blue is simply more legit than a lot of us thought.

Still, give us a new Star Fox already, Nintendo. Let Fox properly join the upper echelons of the Nostalgia Brigade.

This thing is a pop icon. It might be more recognizable than Mario at this point.

Still, GameFAQs is weird. But I don't understand how some people here think it's easy to predict Red Bird's strenght. It's an entirely different situation from Pac-Man. Nothing will surprise me.
#480 | ZenOfThunder (Topic Creator) | Posted 8/4/2013 8:38:14 PM | message detail
Easily Draven.

Actually I would vote for neither, but I'd take Draven in my bracket

I think Draven without rallying strength could beat Red Bird

OK, maybe not THAT far, but Red Bird doesn't have nearly as much rallying potential, as GameFAQs doesn't care about Angry Birds and whatever 10-year-olds love Angry Birds don't care about GameFAQs

Sephiroth can potentially lose to Kirby. The only implication Samus can possibly have for a later round is hurting Mario enough to lose to Mega Man/Charizard/Magikarp. I find the possibility of Sephiroth losing to Kirby far more likely.
