Match LIV: (7) Fox McCloud vs. (12) Pokemon Trainer Blue vs. (21) Wolf O’Donnell Previous Contest Fox McCloud – 2010 67.25% against Lloyd Irving 32.97% against Solid Snake Pokemon Trainer Blue – N/A N/A Wolf O’Donnell – N/A N/A Analysis Another match where two characters from the same series are up against each other and unsurprisingly we are going to get a SFF beat down. Wolf is likely the weakest of the three Star Fox characters in this contest and looking at Falco it is likely Wolf does not have much strength before SFF. Add SFF and we could see Wolf struggle to break 10% in this match. I am not sure why this board is so confident in Pokemon Trainer Blue, yes he looked good in the rivalry contest, but that does not mean he will be strong here. Red while showing some strength is not a world beater and I doubt Blue is as strong as he is. One advantage that he does have is he gets a more Pokemon picture rather than the Smash Bros. picture Red was stuck using last contest. I feel people have underestimated Fox. He is not a Nintendo near-elite, but he has had some decent performances in the past doing well against Sora and Yoshi in four-ways. Some people seemed to fear that LFF would be the cause for his loss and while potentially true LFF can only do so much. First Fox’s ability to SFF Nintendo characters in the past have been noted and if Wolf is being reduced to very low levels there is not going to be much for him to siphon. Then you also have to take into account that Blue himself is a Nintendo character and while Fox and Wolf share more of a fanbase this does not immune Blue from any potential SFF. If Wolf really holds up or if Blue is stronger than Red then Blue may have a chance at winning, but right now I feel this is nothing more than Pokemon fear. If
Wolf SFF is as impactless as Char predicts (I agree that it will have
very little impact -- I don't think Wolf is popular enough to
Nintendo/Starfox/Smash fans to take anything more than a negliglble
amount of votes), 50-38 is entirely plausible. I don't think Blue will
be nearly as strong as some people think -- then again, I've been
underestimating Pokemon all contest. --- I pwn you all! |
Let's put this into perspective a bit here: Both Red and Jill Valentine have had close matches with Revolver Ocelot. Jill is worth 33% on Samus. Fox is worth 33% on Snake. So it can be concluded that Fox and Red are around the same strength level, with Fox probably being stronger. The question then is how far away from Red Blue is strength-wise. EDIT: Then again Jill may have boosted from Resident Evil 5 (...wait a sec, doesn't everyone hate her there?) between 2008 and 2010 so forget it. not like Pokemon has done note-worthily well this contest, unless
getting just under 30% on Mega Man X, getting 37% on Bayonetta (which

that taking Blue in this match, or Mewtwo over Vincent is just Pokefear

think it's kind of unfair that Blue and Red have Pokemon Trainer
attached to their name. It's not a title like Commander or Captain. It's
a simple descriptor. All adding it does is draw attention to the series
they're from, giving them the benefit of being title characters... --- Green is not a creative color |
