FF5 now has two wins to FF4's zero. Of course, Cecil may very well even

Yeah, to be perfectly honest I don't think this means much for the Expert
leaderboard. The Bracket leaderboard probably gets hit hard but I'd be
shocked if the Expert hivemind didn't jump ship to Gilgamesh some time

Of course, time has been good to FF5, and slowly more and more people are realizing just what an awesome game it is, plus stuff like the Four Job Fiesta. Of course, Dissidia's still probably the biggest boost of strength. I'm still surprised that Gilgamesh is kicking ass in a poll. That's
the great thing about Expert brackets, is that you aren't beholden to
your pre-contest notions anymore. I had Booker in my bracket, but after
seeing Old Square/Dissidia vs Elizabeth/Big Daddy's performance, I
changed it. Things change, perceptions change, voters don't pan out the way you thought pre-contest, etc. I think that's what makes it interesting --- F*** BT |

Don't just go by Guru List for Expert Picks. Most gurus likely swapped
to Gilgamesh > Booker after watching newer characters bomb hard while
old Square characters kick ass. Anyway, any takers for the Gilgamesh > Sora upset train? Anyone? Oh definitely, I don't even care about Bracket Challenge (and the fact that mine is dead has nothing to do with that, I promise!) Expert is just a lot more interesting because you can course-correct when other matches do things you might not have expected them to do. Of course, I got impatient and frustrated that the hivemind mentality has kept me in the same spot a bit off the leaderboard and decided to pick against my gut here hoping to go big or go home... and well... I think I just went home. Now to enter the meltdown phase of my contest experience where I take increasingly stupid upsets to "get back into it" and just bury myself deeper! This result gives me more confidence in Groose (...insofar as such a word can be applied to a character of his 'caliber'). I'll take Lu Bu > Yoshimitsu too because it feels like everyone who's played Dynasty Warriors will vote for the former. Yoshimitsu relies a lot more on 'default' votes I think. --- sig |
Dissidia
doesn't seem to help FF7, or if it did it's not enough to counteract
their decline. Of course, maybe a PS3 release would slow that descent,
and considering Zelda's declining... I don't think it'd be enough to spark either upset, though I think it'd result in both matches being much, much closer than they'd be right now. My strategy of "new stuff probably flops" is going pretty well this year. This should bump me up the leaderboard nicely.
