Given that Xenoblade has 3, I don't think Tales getting 4 is that terrible.

Especially since all 4 Tales characters would probably beat any of the Xenoblade trio.

The difference being that Xenoblade characters were technically untested and had a (extremely unlikely) chance at not being complete garbage. We've seen Fails characters in the contests for 8 years and they have been consistantly terrible (barring today's match I guess)

CATS is a tradition, Guybrush is...

I dunno why we keep nominating him, he's really a "happy to be here" type who has been happy far too many times

we should at least have him swap with Manny Calavera every other contest if people HAVE to get classic adventure people in

My instinct is that Pika hurts Lloyd more and I'm inclined to keep siding with it. Big Daddy was just... very, very overrated.

Not overrated, he declined.

Overrated implies he somehow beat Ness randomly.

Or Ness was also overrated.

...But seriously, that's a good point. I can explain why his X-Stat value might be higher than it should be but not why he beat Ness.

Oh btw, ExTha asked me last night what I thought about the potential "ass factor" or "booty factor" between Yuna and Claire.

Well, I love it. I think it's imperative that we try to get booty factor represented on the front page whenever possible because it's much more difficult to gain representation than TJF. Consider:

- You need the characters booty AND face visible in the same shot. Much harder.
- This means it needs to be almost a full-body shot, which once again limits options.

It's too bad that SBAllen already posted the rest of the R1 pics, because I really wanted to get Booty Factor into play for Jill and found a couple decent pics for it. Shame.

Well, what's the theme for R2 pics? Jill's the favorite in her match, so there will probably be another chance.

It's just not worth it to complain about Guybrush in a 243 character bracket. If we're going to have a bracket this big and this full of junk, I see no problem with any given fanbase trying to get their 1 character in, tubofodder though they might be.

Actually, I'd like to thank the Monkey Island fanbase for showing restraint and not getting a second character from that franchise in (besides Rivalry Rumble) to be awful in contests. With how Guybrush does in seeding, they clearly would have the power to do so. Speaks much better of them than the Touhou freaks.

Glad you answered. Like I'm said I'm worried now that it will have an ass LFF overlap (mmm) between Yuna and Claire, causing MC to be able to win.

But I think I'd be able to firmly grasp that defeat if we could literally mark it down to ass LFF being something that happened in a contest.

Oh, believe me, it'd be far worse than that. This contest finally proved that it is possible to get a character from a Japan-only series into a contest. Can you imagine how many of them would be polluting a bracket with no contest veterans?

Not that it particularly matters. But there was a lot of evidence based on data in the first few contests before Knuckles beat Magus that he wasn't as strong as that performance on Link suggested. I made several long-winded posts about it in my Squall > Magus campaign that year!

And I still don't understand how he got that percentage, really. We can say Magus got weaker since 2k3 all we want, but it's a really long way to fall to go from being a Noble Nine breaker to losing to Knuckles. It's way too big a jump to simply be weakness.

It's easy. That match just has to be the outlier. Caused by momentum/sprite round/a weak incarnation of Link/whatever.

You have to throw out Magus getting 35% on Link for everything else to make sense.

Overperformances happen. Magus 2k3 wasn't *ever* NN level, but he was a touch above Tidus 2k3. From Tidus's level you'd only need some slight weakening to get on Knuckles's level then.

The weakening *after* the Knux match is what's been really remarkable. Magus has clear wins against characters that I'd never take him over again. Who here wants to take Magus > Phoenix (who he blasted with 56% in 2007) or even Magus > Crash (who he 60-40'd in the same match). Hell he'll probably be losing to Otacon in a few years (NOT THAT HE EVER NEEDS TO COME BACK GUYS).
