~*Say What? Common Stats Topic Lingo Defined*~

SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote. This is the best example of SFF we've ever seen. However take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make perfect sense.

Extrapolated Standings - The mathematical "strength" of a contestant that's determined based on their performance relative to the rest of the field. This number is typically based on the contest entrant's loss, but adjustments are sometimes made. See above for a watered down explanation for how the stats are calculated.

Well, there's also the sprites Snake has in cutscenes of the game. That could be a good middle ground.

I'd just like, if we *must* use the sprite round, to use Snake's MGS1 model.

It doesn't look great, heck it may not do much better for him. But at least it would be from the game that he's actually known for.

I actually thought GBC Snake looked significantly better than Solid S***, even if it was still pretty s***ty in its own right.

But Solid S*** is a hilarious tradition. I'm fine with it showing up as long as we have that silly sprite round. So long as it's not against, like, Cloud.

But yes, anyone who hasn't played Der Langrisser really should. There's 100% translations out there and it's IMO the best 16Bit strategy RPG along with the Shining Force games.

Plus it potentially sets up Cloud vs Kefka vs Sora.

That is just a hell of a semi-final.

No. We've been over this. It sets up Cloud/Kefka/Crono, which puts Crono in the finals. Against Link and Mario.

Believe it or not, that would skewer the ratio way more in abnormality's favor than rage compared to Link being there. Link brings the abnormality down and jacks up the rage both on the "oh god Link wins again, and this time he wins easily thanks to Pokemon LFF" and the "oh god NINTENDOFAQS NINTENDOFAQS" fronts.

If Draven gets there, Link and Sephiroth have already gone down and the final is merely a formality. There would be a ton of rage. More than Link would cause. I'm fairly sure of it.

If Draven beats Link the contest ends right there. Nothing would stop him at that point.

Honestly, Draven losing in the finals would probably register as the biggest upset to ever occur for me. I can't really imagine the circumstances you would need for that to happen (with the only exception being another LoL character there... so, what, Teemo?)

I wouldn't know!

But that's kind of secondary to my point. A LoL character, whether it be Draven or Teemo, would cause more rage than Link winning. And if Draven beats Link, that has essentially been assured. We could have a Draven/Teemo/Whoever final and I'd expect the "Whoever" to place 3rd!

Based on 2010 xsts, Crono would get like 50.58% against Lloyd and Big Daddy. So better than that without Magus there.

I don't know how bad Magus hurts him, so I won't hazard a guess on that.

Well it would essentially be odd as it would basically mean outside forces decided a GFs contest single-handedly. I myself have Teemo winning the whole thing thanks to contest format and GameFAQs in general having a dying population.

The best chance for Draven to win his next match is to have a higher base strength in his next match so he has a better chance of using the rallies to upset MMX and Ryu.

It could happen. Link's not that far ahead of the field anymore, and you can't rally unlimited amounts of votes. It may just be that with two LoL entries there's not enough to go around against GameFAQs fighting back against a united front.

If the final is Draven/Temmo/(Cloud or Snake) I imagine most of the internet that cares about these contests will be pissed and take advantage of the LoL SFF to maybe sneak in a second place finish, but that poll is eclipsing 300k if both LoL champions make it especially if Riot decides to add a "prize" for the winning champion.

I can see Cloud/Snake pulling into 2nd, though I'd personally be very uneasy about taking that pick, but first? I just have to believe that if Cloud/Snake was putting up a credible threat to win that the rally would abandon one character for the other.

Maybe I'm wrong, but at this phase I'm envisioning extremely high votals plus a bandwagon effect that just crushes the remaining competition even further down from where things stood after Link fell. I don't think it just levels off after Link loses, I expect the floodgates to burst and Sephiroth and Cloud/Snake to be the victims of it.

But hopefully this is all just a nightmare hypothetical that will never leave the confines of bizarre "what ifs"!
