Eh, nevermind. Looks like Jack is dead --- A refusal of praise is a desire to be praised twice. |
I was hoping we could use the word "eponymous" somewhere in the new factor...! --- T H E S T A B L E - bring on Epona! http://img812.imageshack.us/img812/3492/eponaharr.jpg |
OK well the name isn't set in stone "Titular" would be a cool name because I don't wanna type "eponymous" whenever I have to explain what it is someone with more authority than me should give it an official name --- ~Zen |
Why not just Game Name Factor (GNF)? --- Thank you, Eddie Guerrero. http://www.wwe.com/f/wysiwyg/image/2013/07/wyatt07062013.gif |
Yet again the board overestimates a newcomer. The bar needs to be set lower. --- Smurf, the cream of Sonic Fanboyism. |
Eponymous
Hero Factor is probably the best name. "Titular" is vaguer and
something of a misused term (it typically refers to one who holds a
title, e.g. a titular bishop). --- "Hamas isn't really a terror organization." -Terran [Evil Republican] Play Der Langrisser. |
That's The Name Of The Game Factor TTNOTGF --- Thank you, Eddie Guerrero. http://www.wwe.com/f/wysiwyg/image/2013/07/wyatt07062013.gif |
http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/8-gamefaqs-contests/66836502 We can vote on a name here then I'll force it down your throats every time it happens --- ~Zen |
I like Game Name Factor the best. The word "titular" has been forever ruined by perverse video game journalists. |
I'm really like Eponymous Hero Factor cuz we can then post "EHF" all the time what a great sounding word EHHHHHHF --- ~Zen |
I kind of like it...because it sounds like Epona. >_> <_< |
EHF! EHF! EHF! EHF! --- F*** BT |
I don't like it because I'm dumb and had to look up "eponymous". --- POKEFEAR |
Meanwhile Jack is cutting. --- "When your enemies defy you, you must serve them steel and fire. When they go to their knees, however, you must help them back to their feet." |
The problem with Eponymous Hero Factor is that it's not always a hero. What if a random Metroid gets in? --- Thank you, Eddie Guerrero. http://www.wwe.com/f/wysiwyg/image/2013/07/wyatt07062013.gif |
Now Jack makes a move --- BOP Results: http://www.freewebs.com/charmander6000/CB9%20BOP.xls Points: 30/36 Today's Picks: Cloud and Frog |
good point, we WERE talking about maybe rallying Metroid Prime or Baby Metroid I am on board with Titular Character Factor cuz i like boobs --- ~Zen |
2 cuts in a row for Jack. It's probably over, but I'd like to think changing to Jack > Joe at the last second was worth it. --- http://i.imgur.com/6OHUIst.jpg |
Oh man, a Chrono Trigger character is winning in Europe. I guess CTDS helped. Also, about that Cloud performance... Cloud vs. Mega Man who've you got? --- Something something something ^Poorly disguised anti-caps sig |
Joe takes it all back. I'd rather he made some bigger gains though as a stall-fest at 100-300 votes could become difficult. --- Fine! I'll go to the store and get your Goddamn drain cleaner! Character Battle IX Tingle Victory Parade - the journey is over.... |
Denzokuken posted... Joe takes it all back. I'd rather he made some bigger gains though as a stall-fest at 100-300 votes could become difficult. A lot of Europe is heavily favouring Jack, that'll go away in a few hours. Joe is narrowly winning the US. He should be fine. --- Smurf, the cream of Sonic Fanboyism. |
Heavily favouring? It's an even split more or less. That said, that just suggests that Joe will take it. I'm more impressed by the fact that Frog is doing better in most of Europe than he is in the US. His geolocation trends changed. --- Something something something ^Poorly disguised anti-caps sig |
I agree, only the UK seems to be against him. --- BOP Results: http://www.freewebs.com/charmander6000/CB9%20BOP.xls Points: 30/36 Today's Picks: Cloud and Frog |
Lightning Strikes posted... Oh man, a Chrono Trigger character is winning in Europe. Is the PSN version of Chrono Trigger available in the UK? That probably would have helped CT improve its status in the UK even more than the DS version. At least the PSN version allows you to play the game on the big screen, rather than the small DS screen. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as SuperNiceDog, Guru Champ! |
It's also on Virtual Console in the UK. Play it on the big screen without obnoxious loading times! --- Thank you, Eddie Guerrero. http://www.wwe.com/f/wysiwyg/image/2013/07/wyatt07062013.gif |
So
how is Frog looking as far as strength goes? I mean he obviously beats
these guys, but has he fallen compared to normal or anything? --- http://myanimelist.net/animelist/swordz9 |
swordz9 posted... So how is Frog looking as far as strength goes? I mean he obviously beats these guys, but has he fallen compared to normal or anything? Well the only real data we have on either of these guys is that Prince of Persia once doubled Joe and Tails once got 55%. Go based on past Joe matches it looks pretty bad. --- http://i.imgur.com/lnKB0m9.jpg http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/1184880/davis-again.gif http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8118/8656607511_94178dbf2e_o.gif |
charmander6000 posted... I agree, only the UK seems to be against him. CT is also bad in Ireland as well. From what I've noticed, Ireland usually has the same tastes as the UK, although characters and games that do really bad in the UK will do slightly better in Ireland. On the opposite end of things, characters and games that are very strong in the UK will do slightly worse in Ireland. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as SuperNiceDog, Guru Champ! |
As of right now Frog has 65% on Joe I think (I dunno if I did it right. I followed a formula posted here: http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/8-gamefaqs-contests/66684669) And here's the x-stats calculator: Frog (2010c) VS Viewtiful Joe (2007c) Frog has a strength of 28.00. Viewtiful Joe has a strength of 11.58. Frog wins with 79.32% of the vote! A win of 48,015 with 81,876 total votes cast. obvious the Game Name Factor™ at work --- ~Zen |
swordz9 posted... So how is Frog looking as far as strength goes? I mean he obviously beats these guys, but has he fallen compared to normal or anything? Old square has looked pretty good so far, in recent years when CT was in terminal decline the reminder of how far it had fallen was present in every match for all its characters. Would say it'll be a static or boosted showing from Frog/CT this year. --- Smurf, the cream of Sonic Fanboyism. |
4 of the last 5 updates have been cuts for Jack. Looks like we're getting out of the Japanese character power hour now. --- http://i.imgur.com/lnKB0m9.jpg http://assets.sbnation.com/assets/1184880/davis-again.gif http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8118/8656607511_94178dbf2e_o.gif |
It's hard to tell. Claptrap got 35.64% on Zidane in 2010. I'm personally satisfied with him. --- BOP Results: http://www.freewebs.com/charmander6000/CB9%20BOP.xls Points: 30/36 Today's Picks: Cloud and Frog |
oh, poor Jack Probably the best villain released in the past few years --- Oh SuperNiceDog's doing it again dude. SuperNiceDog, you ain't no pimp dude |
Frog is doing unusually well in Canada. About 10% higher than his performance in the US. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as SuperNiceDog, Guru Champ! |
WAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRIOOOOOOR!!!!! KILL!! At least get second place please |
Handsome Jack is new and Viewtiful Joe has had Marvel vs. Capcom 3 since we last saw him so it's hard to say. From 2007: http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/2894 Joe probably got Last Place Factored there and that match was weird in general with Sub-Zero doing so well on Sonic. Joe should at least be stronger now than this match showed. But in 2004, Joe did this: http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/1744 And then Tails did this. http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/1763 Going off this Joe makes Frog look ridiculous. Frog > Dante? >_> --- [NO BARKLEY NO PEACE] |
Frog is doing unusually well in Canada. About 10% higher than his performance in the US. Canada loves CT Despite being similar markets they do have different tastes --- BOP Results: http://www.freewebs.com/charmander6000/CB9%20BOP.xls Points: 30/36 Today's Picks: Cloud and Frog |
Am I like the only idiot who had Jack for 2nd spot and VJ for 3rd? --- Pokemon Showdown Peak Ranking OU: 2004 And then lost 7 matches in a row >_> |
Jack > Joe was the board's consensus I figure. --- BOP Results: http://www.freewebs.com/charmander6000/CB9%20BOP.xls Points: 30/36 Today's Picks: Cloud and Frog |
You aren't the only one. I also had Jack for 2nd and Joe for 3rd. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as SuperNiceDog, Guru Champ! |
spooky96 posted... Am I like the only idiot who had Jack for 2nd spot and VJ for 3rd? I have this too. I underestimated the MvC factor, it seems. Same with Phoenix. --- Harmony is peace. Peace is unity. Unity is harmony. I tell this to the King Nook. He ask me to leave. |
Jack and Joe have been roughly even for the past 70 minutes. --- POKEFEAR |
DoctorJimmy133 posted... spooky96 posted...Am I like the only idiot who had Jack for 2nd spot and VJ for 3rd? It's not just that! It's the GNF! --- ~Zen |
I went no pick because I figured Jack and Joe would be too close to call. I hope whoever has the least amount of expert picks wins --- A refusal of praise is a desire to be praised twice. |
Whoa, 27-vote cut --- POKEFEAR |
Whoa, this ain't over yet! Jack's got the lead to its lowest in 50 minutes. --- Harmony is peace. Peace is unity. Unity is harmony. I tell this to the King Nook. He ask me to leave. |
This has been a pretty good contest for GNF. Here are the instances so far this contest, along with their performance: -Isaac (Binding): lost tossup match -Alan Wake: bombed hard -Kain: disappointed -Tiny Tina (shared name with DLC): Contended for first where many gave her no chance -Jak: did great until a monster rally buried him -Sonic: performed about as expected -Layton: Did ok all things considered -Phoenix Wright: Unquestionably his strongest performance ever -Chester: Inspired the stats topic to adopt the "Chester" as new lowest unit of strength -Agent 47 (kinda counts?): not impressive -Spyro: dominated a poll to get his first win ever -Kirby: Did about as expected after an early scare from Terra -Crash: Got his first contest win in 11 years -Commander Keen: Turbofodder -Bayonetta: Almost reached 50% in a debated match -Ratchet: Lost somewhat respectably -Kefka: Used the boost from the recently-released "Super Kefka 64" to solidly defeat Cloud's Clone and an 8-bit ninja. -Viewtiful Joe: Will win second place over a supposedly stronger character --- SC2K13 Bracket: All-in on the Ninja! Expert challenge: Dead Oracle: Team Frog and Magus |
-LusterSoldier- posted... Lightning Strikes posted...Oh man, a Chrono Trigger character is winning in Europe. I don't believe so, but as mentioned it is on the Virtual Console. --- Something something something ^Poorly disguised anti-caps sig |
Is he the real one?I find it strange --- GameFaqs is NOT the place to go for relationship advice.Nobody here gets any action unless it is their right or left hand.Including me.~Dawn and Dusk~ |
