First places are all easy aside from Protoman-Ike but Ike is favorable to win
Second places...Xenoblade characters sucked hard this contest so i'm not sure about Shulk
I have no idea what Shadow Hearts is and never heard of it but Hero done well..kinda (maybe mostly joke votes but who knows)
Ryu would lose to Kefka but thanks to Zack SFF he will probably get second place

Perhaps I'm underestimating FF7's strength and overestimating FF6, but is Zack beating Kefka really that much of a sure thing? Kefka is debated as being the best villain in FF games along with Seph and Kuja. Zack was a minor character in FF7 who was the protagonist of a spinoff.

I have Kefka winning 2 rounds, which is probably really dumb, but to me he's just so much more iconic and immediately recognizable than Zack Fair..

Based on past performances, Zack trounces Kefka. Based on other past experience, FF7 craps all over Old Square. The only question in this match is whether Kefka and Zack overlap enough to let Hayabusa squeak by, but Zack has just been too damn impressive for me to take that.

Kefka may be the best villain, but that has nothing to do with contest strength.

And yes, you're reading that right. Rydia won an hour over Captain Falcon despite him actually winning the match at the time. Falcon starts off crazy, dies overnight, and recovers late in the morning, but it just wasn't enough.

I don't think any of the Sages would be really notable. You don't really make a good connection with them the way you would Epona. Getting Epona is one of the best moments in OoT, that's gotta count for something. I think everyone who has played OoT kinda comes away with that same feeling. She isn't going to be favored over real popular characters in this contest, but Mordin or Niko? Seems like the perfect match.

Yeah, that's how I feel. Zack is FFVII, but he's a bit distant from it at the same time. People are probably less likely to turn on him, or not care as much. He sort of stands out compared to the others.

I honestly never heard anyone suggest this. I guess it's possible but I doubt games like Crisis Core and DoC are the reason for FF7's collapse, it's just that many people think it's "overrated' and I bet most of these people have never actually played it and are just sick of hearing it's "the best game ever"

N should get all the votes for this scene alone

Going off the 10:30pm update (where I live, that is) and assuming that Wander has remained constant in strength from 2010:

Bayonetta is on Terra's level.

N is on Kratos Aurion's level.

Both make sense to me, though I'd still say there's wiggle room to assume that Wander has boosted since last contest (with our only evidence being his game's improving drastically in strength between games contests).

My input: I think Bayonetta would still beat Terra. I just feel that she has way more casual appeal! Then again maybe not.

N being on Kratos Aurion's level...dunno. Tales of Symphonia would annihilate Pokemon Black/White in a games contest, but those Tales characters always find ways to flop so whatever.

I don't buy that. You do have a connection to Ruto at the least, and Saria and Darunia as well. I mean, heck, Ruto is not only your companion for half a child dungeon, she comes back later for the adult section and it's kind of a huge shock how much she's changed (I remember I did a double take when I first saw her in the water temple. I was like, 'wait WHAT that's her?!'). A similar argument applies to the other two sages. They wouldn't be contest worldbeaters or anything, but my gut instinctively says that in a match between one of them and Epona, you should pick the Sage.

Eh, I might take Malon over the Sages.

The next Zelda character really should be Majora. He/it would be stronger than any OoT Sage. It'll mobilize the hell out of the fanbase, I think, and it's just such an eerie and awesome selection.

I think Nabooru would be stronger than Epona. Not sure about the other sages or Saria and Ruto.

I do believe nostalgia will be enough to win Epona this match, but while I was one of the original "let's get Epona into the contest!" people way back in 2K3, I think she'd be significantly weaker now than back then. I don't think she'd be able to beat legit competition.

IMO FF7 has been dropping because of diminishing playrate, plain and simple. Kingdom Hearts made Cloud, Sephiroth (and Squall) refreshed in people's minds but even that was ages ago now.

Back at FF7's peak it would have had a ridiculous playrate. This site owed a lot to people searching for FF7 faqs. (you could even say this site would not be around if not for FF7, it's role in the site's history was that important) It's playrate would be far lower nowadays.

Meanwhile I don't think Ocarina's playrate has dropped as much, and of course Link has a new game every generation.

Alucard survives saving everyone's brackets. Alucard losing would have been a disaster for the top tiers again. The perfects were over 80% in terms of Alucard support and over 70% of the -1, -2 and -3 tiers had Alucard. Unfortunately, so did one zero bracket.

8 people fell off the Top 49. Mark_DeRosa, Blanksteiner, CWFinady, FlammieX, frodragon, glfaulker, Hotllama89 and Ian_Ventricle did not have Alucard winning.

1 person got the match wrong and survived. Hump_A_Bird also did not have Alucard winning.

I can get behind Vic Viper and Cammy. Those 2 would be able to crush a third of this bracket. I really think Cammy is the #5 SF character (behind Ryu, Ken, Chunners and Bison)
