I have Reyn in my bracket. I'm not even sure how that happened and I wanna say I accidentally put it and didn't realize. Needless to say I had Spyro in expert and thought he'd win easily. (wasn't sure on the other two though so only +3 today)

Not really. There's a reason why Board 8 annihilates non-Board 8 in every contest - because we're here observing and evaluating this stuff, and everyone from the biggest casual to the biggest stats nerd has picked up info that a non-Board 8er isn't privy to. Don't mean to be douchy about it, but this idea of "the board guiding you wrong" is intrinsically folly for all of us.

So this is good news for Draven, right? Because it shows that the Jak he beat wasn't entirely fodderific. Meaning he would need less of a rally than expected to beat Mega Man X. Granted, it will still need to be a massive one. But now he needs a massive rally as normal fodder and not crazy uber-fodder.

Heck no. Good luck getting a rally going against the likes of icons like Ryu and Mega Man.

Also, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Wheatley got last. He's the newest character in his poll by a decade, and these new characters apart from Mass Effect have kinda sucked. Vercetti probably sucks bad now, but people remember him and have some sort of attachment there.

Currently, Reyn is at 20.06% on Spyro. Dunban got 16.54% on Vincent. For Reyn to get the exact same percentage on Vincent that Dunban got, Vincent would have to get 58.78% on Spyro to make Reyn equal to Dunban. And well, Vincent would blow out Spyro much worse than 59%. I think Vincent probably gets around 70% on Spyro.

The best part is, there is literally no reason to take Clementine here. I wasn't even aware this match was in question, that's how obvious Spyro was to me. Sure he looked like ass in previous contests, but when you have 2 obscure generic looking characters against any kind of mascot, that mascot is going to win. Plus Spyro's had a resurgence of games the last 2 years which certainly doesn't hurt.

True. I'm being a little harsh. But there are those times when certain individuals sell you the idea that a certain match is a lock (like this one) and turns out the character they were banking on completely bombs. Tends to always be the case when there's a new character in the field. Otherwise, the board collectively does a good job picking the winner.

I'd definitely be for getting him into a future contest (he'd certainly be better than some of the other stuff in this bracket).

I still have faith in Wheatley though...the fact that his character design looks GLaDOS should help substantially.

But yeah, outside of series like God of War and Mass Effect, it seems that new characters are just ass in general.

And by new characters, I mean anything from the time these contests started, not new like a couple years ago. Most voters seem to be 90's gamers. Very little post-2k2 is worth a damn.

It seems like most of the characters from the past 2 or 3 years have been bombing left and right. Because of this, I think Wheatley is a huge bomb waiting to happen. I'm going to put Wheatley in 3rd place in my Expert Challenge.
