I think for tomorrow's night match I'm going for Reyn > Clementine > Reyn for my Expert Challenge pick.

I have Reyn winning in my bracket, but if he loses it'll be to Spyro. I'll take a 0 than a -6. Well, I could still get -4. That would suck. So, let's go Clementine get 2nd place!

if Spyro beats Clem, you can't gain any points with that pick, but you can lose 6

I expected him to perform badly.

Anti-vote king, FFVII decline.

That being said, he'll recover and be fine, small chance getting 60. I would be surprised if he fails to get over 57. That might concern me.

When I was looking at Mac's contest history yesterday, it never seemed like he was total fodder. Hell, he did better on Link than Ganondorf managed, and his % against Ammy was respectable.

I think there's a possibility of that being true, but Nintendo being so down in popularity makes me a little hesitant. Whatever drop FFVII might suffer, I don't know that Nintendo is necessarily immune.

Meh. We've seen Mario be better than Sephiroth indirectly since 2002. Mario still gets his tail kicked whenever they've met head-to-head. So why do we all think that's different now?

Mario is probably the second-strongest character indirectly here. But he still gets SFFed into the ground by Link. We haven't seen him against Cloud or Sephiroth in far, far too long. Why is everyone so sure that Mario wins that match now?

Because Sephiroth never used to perform like this.

because it's the second straight match of FF7 significantly underperforming, even compared to 2010, and Mario/Seph was barely even debatable then.

Mario's had good blowouts before, and he usually can go higher than others can sometimes because of the overlap he shares with some classic characters, but I don't know that Mario has looked like the more popular character for years. In the past couple of contests, maybe, but most of the time Sephiroth has always looked clearly better.
