I've decided to stck with Heavy > Chrom. I just think Heavy is a name and face with more recognition. Chrom is more of a niche character.

It took a rally for Tharja to beat Tiny Tina of all things, and I think Tharja had a lot more going for her in that match than Chrom does here.

Don't waste a Guru nom on Tanner.

Seriously, there are enough B8ers who would be behind bringing Tanner back and it takes so few noms to make the bracket now that you could just hold your own rally and get him in.

Tanner's statistical weakness is probably more due to him facing Solid Snake than anything else. They are both in action game series that got most of their notoriety in the PS1 era, and of the elites, Snake is the one the least potential for anti-votes while still being a household name everyone knows.

Make no mistake, nobody on this site cares about the Driver series and he still gets <10% in any one on one match against the Noble Nine, but Snake is the reason even Mr. Driller and Serious Sam are pulling 60-40s on him.

And yeah, I've maintained from the beginning that Snake was probably Tanner's worst possible opponent. I think even against guys stronger than Snake back then, Tanner would've done noticeably better. Still awful, but better.

Another thing about Tanner is that his games are very similar to the GTA games, and since GTA characters prove themselves on a regular basis to be way weaker than their games it makes perfect sense that Tanner would have the same problem, in so far as "you don't play his game(s) for the characters!".

There is a notable difference, however, in that Tanner is the main character of the entire series.

I might consider holding a rally for him next time. I'm just curious to get a better read on him, and now that he's only the second most pathetic character to partake in these, it means that if he can perform better it won't really tarnish any sort of legacy. Maybe he is still epic fodder, but I rather doubt he is this epic or even as epic as his lone appearance suggests. It would make for interesting predictions!

Yeah Driver really sounds like GTA.

I ended up finding out more about the game...apparently it's basically GTAIII before GTAIII, except with no pedestrians to run over (CARMAGEDDON) and no on-foot action.

Yeah, the first Driver was a really great game for its time. It had a lot of influence on 3-D Grand Theft Auto, I think.

I actually had a Driver game for the GBA. Can't say too much about it. It might have been a port of the first game or something, but it was going to be unremarkable having played it after the GTA games.

Yeah for me Driver is basically just the endless cops mode, which doesn't really have a long shelf life. But half an hour of mindless fun once in a while is more than a lot of games can offer!

Mewtwo's currently netting a higher percentage against Chester than Snake did against Tanner. Yikes.

At least we have a base of how much influence Board 8 has voting in these matches (little).

Keep in mind that Tiny Tina also had a rally though. Had no one been rallied, Tharja would've won.

FF7 chars tend to underperform until they are put up against competition worth a damn anyway. So it will be hard to judge just how much they have fallen until the first of them faces a real challenge.

While I think the Sonic/Vincent gap in a direct match is larger now than its ever been I still don't believe that Sonic can defeat Vincent with Bowser in the poll, too much overlap in a multi-format that Sonic usually struggles in.
