Yeah, I don't think the games themselves are the main source of Touhou characters' popularity. There are a lot of memes, and the fact that ZUN's art/writing skills aren't exactly great means there's plenty of room for the fans to come up with their own interpretations. To give you an idea: I've never actually played a Touhou game, yet of the 87 fanfiction on my FF.net account, 27 are Touhou. Frankly, I don't even want to try to get one of the games into a contest to test this theory, but I'd fully expect that Characters >>>>>>>>>>>>>> Games for this series. --- RIP GrapefruitKing and Emporer_Kazbar. I don't know, Cait Sith should be the weakest by a huge margin, maybe probably followed by Yufi. |

As for the other 2 Touhou characters, one of them is going to face Tifa, and the other one, Vivi. I guess the entire reason those lolis were put into this contest was to make FF look bad. |

How
important are the Final Fantasy spinoffs, etc.? Barret never played a
prominent role in any of them, did he? Zack Fair and Vincent got people
to remember them based on sequels. Even if no one really liked them, it
put them back on the map. People like Cloud and Sephiroth also have
Kingdom Hearts, which was my first time being exposed to the cast of
FFVII. I mean, FFVII came out when I was 4 years old, I believe. I'm 20
now. Anyone from my generation onward probably got exposed to FF through
KH, and Barret has been a no show. Sure, some like me go back to play
the originals, but KH definitely helps. --- Green is not a creative color |

makes cameo appearances in all of them except Crisis Core, but he's
