Rather than making sweeping assumptions, why don't you ask for clarification of my stance if you don't understand it? Or is it just easier and more convenient to assume that I'm an idiot and keep the circlejerk going? --- PSN - Aevio "I'm on a Goomba." - BlackMageJawa |
We literally don't have contests without rallying. I mean that is 100% the reason they still do contests. Increased site-traffic. Saying we should have contests without rallying is like saying we should get paychecks without jobs. --- Ace Detective in Sir Chris' Police (Possibly trying to summon Smuffin'.) |

Unless you're president of the Official Jak Fanclub of America I don't see what the huge deal is here! Why don't you justify yourself, whiny boy? Your position was summed up succintly before as 'new people don't deserve to vote'. Correct that, then. And don't give us crap about 'skewing predictions' and ****. Explain to us why people randomly deciding to take to the site and vote are worth more than people told to go there and vote, who still have freedom to choose between characters as they like. Go on, whiner. We're all ears. |
Also,
I agree about the obnoxiousness but I'm willing to put it aside. The
sole aim here should be to stop Link at any cost. Now the ideal scenario
is Snake being the one, because he's by far the best character with any
top-tier contest strength. But I will throw my support behind the
Draven cause if he becomes a viable anti-Link option. Like I said, totally agree on the obnoxiousness but there's a greater good here. --- XIII_rocks, the cream of XIII fanboyism. |
Your
stance is you're flipping out over a 1 point match involving 3 fodders.

We are just stating that you are being pretty melodramatic over a poll. Well, I am stating that. I don't know what the other guys are stating. result. Don't care about any of these guys (except Chie, a little,
because of WVGCW) but this is exactly the sort of insane shenanigans
needed to keep contests from being dull as dirt. --- And then the car wash cost five dollars. |
VeryInsane posted... I thought League players were too busy playing League to vote in this. I too thought that not enough LoL folks would hop on GameFAQs to throw a vote Draven's way. That and I somehow assumed Persona had a stronger fanbase, so I picked Chie to win in a squeaker over Draven. Darn it, I'm no expert! Also, no offense, LoL is a fun game and all, but best community? Look at Greyfeld, sharing space with guys like you, Rad Link, Ulti, XIII and all the others. Likewise, for all those idiots, LoL has guys like FD, Red13n, JC, and a ton of other good people, and that's without even getting into the many high-level players who crank out all the content for us scrubs to digest and learn. The only communities made up of mostly nice people are the dead ones, and LoL is full of great guys. |

My "melodramatics" has nothing to do with a specific poll and everything to do with how letting this single result sit would throw the entire contest out of whack. But I keep hearing "lulz u kant keep pplz from voting!!" instead of actual reasonable discussion. I god ****ed HATE it when people put words in my mouth or don't actually LISTEN to what I'm ****ing saying. It gets under my skin faster than anything else, and totally makes me lose my cool. Which is probably a bad thing on the internet, but silly me, I thought that people would actually be willing to talk. The thing with Kanz is another issue altogether. Oh
well you can pretty much ignore Kanz, I built up an immunity years ago.
My personal problem with you is that you kind of ignore a fair bit of
contest lore to have your position. Mario beat Cloud in 2002 due to an
official Nintendo rally. Mario versus Crono in 2003 was a heavily
rallied match that IMO Crono should have won. Frog has made suspicious
comebacks, the backbone of L-Block's championship was the round he beat
Link getting 30k more votes than any poll in this site's history. This
contest is bathed in the blood of fairness. Objecting now is just silly. --- Death is not to be feared, but avoidance never hurt anyone. |

After awhile, with some of the folks I was up against, it became a matter of 'aaaaaa I don't have the time to deal with this and I have too many games to play!' I'd feel the same about Minecraft but I didn't care for it all that much. What's been going on today's made me curious about what'll happen once it's Steve/Creeper's turn. |

Mind, I don't stumble across him frequently, but it's a community that's rather prized in its ability for most people to civilly deal with one another. I hate the idea of having to block anyone on there. As far as those old rallies are concerned, I wasn't around for any of them. I concede that they may be an occurrence that happens from time to time, but I've never seen a major swing like this since I've started frequenting the contests. Considering this is a gamefaqs contest, it doesn't feel right to have thousands of people who never frequent the site pop in and completely change the entire matchup. --- PSN - Aevio "I'm on a Goomba." - BlackMageJawa |
Honestly,
I've come to the point where I've accepted Link winning as a fact of
life. It doesn't bother me anymore. He earns it as much as anyone can
earn a popularity contest, and hey, if the win is dominant enough, maybe
Bacon finally brings back the Tournament of Champions or something
similar! In the mean time, I just enjoy the small victories. Like my
first successful rally. Actually I was probably happier with that than I
would be with Snake beating Link, but I meant small in terms of scope,
not joy. So my point is I'm not going to root for Draven over Link just because Draven is not-Link. A world where Draven wins every contest is even more horrifying to me than the world we have now. --- Ace Detective in Sir Chris' Police http://i.imgur.com/RE1JzlW.jpg |
There
have been much bigger swings than this, I just listed a few examples
off the top of my head. D.K. is a choke artist, Starcraft in 2004 as a
16 seed had some pretty grand rallying/cheating adventures. Sballen
pretty much encourages this stuff to increase site traffic. Basically
the money given out is out of GameFAQs pocket, and increased site
traffic justifies that. Results shouldn't be sacred. Basically the
reason a lot of us are rolling our eyes is this is pretty standard fair.
And I didn't mean literally ignore Kanz. Perhaps meditation, or therapy. --- Death is not to be feared, but avoidance never hurt anyone. |

This is small fry. --- NGirl@work or on phone. |
Well, one thing to draw from this is that anyone who entertained the idea of Yu beating Shadow should now perish the thought. Also I've decided to just go all in on the Expert Challenge and predict everything because why not. It's not like I'm going to win anyway. Time to go crazy. --- "I couldn't stand a day without a past or future. I need to live each moment to keep fighting here and now." |
Sooo....I went to bed at 1am and Draven was getting curb stomped. Now he's in 1st place. the hell happened --- The Great GameFAQs Character Battle IX contest - 5/6 pts | Expert Challenge: 14/36 NP: Draven > Jak > Chie Satonaka |

Basically the money given out is out of GameFAQs pocket, and increased site traffic justifies that. Results shouldn't be sacred. Basically the reason a lot of us are rolling our eyes is this is pretty standard fair. I had to take therapy for my anger issues when I was a teenager. I'm far less liable to hurt people or break things when I'm pissed off these days, but I still have a quick temper. It's easier on me and my blood pressure if I can just avoid reading that sort of stuff altogether. I do my best to be zen about this sort of thing, but when I get my trigger buttons pushed, it's sort of hard to reel myself back in. That's why I usually just walk away when I'm pissed about something. Gives me time to cool my head and think things through properly before I say anything I might later regret. Personally, I prefer talking through issues like mature adults. Unfortunately, I don't think this is one of those times where it's actually going to happen. --- PSN - Aevio "I'm on a Goomba." - BlackMageJawa |
I've been predicting it all from the beginning because I figured I'd have to just to win. This is only my fourth six-point match in seven matches. And I've had a zero-point match. I think the emphasis is less on Expert and more on Challenge. --- Ace Detective in Sir Chris' Police http://i.imgur.com/LC5PEHK.gif |
