People freak out way too much over one cut. You need a trend first.

The vote totals are at an all-time low. You're going to see weird cuts in every match.

Tharja's too far ahead. IIRC, Borderlands has an atrocious first five minutes, but we're already far beyond that time and things have stabilized. Tharja also has a huge advantage in Japan, which will help mitigate, even slightly, any gains another character gets in Europe.

I doubt Europe goes for Tina. Multiplatform shooters like Borderlands are almost always going to be more popular on the Xbox 360 and the Xbox 360 has poor ownership in Europe outside of the UK. Also, Borderlands is better with the day vote than the night vote.

Japan didn't even get enough regular votes for Bacon to add it to the list of countries we could view results for. Not sure why people even mention Japan.

I could probably attempt to figure out the number of votes from Japan based only on the percentages. This strategy works best on polls with more than 2 options, though.

I'm not really worried about Tharja losing her lead. I just wish that Lollipop Chainsaw had a decent following in Europe so that Juliet could edge Tina out overnight for second place.

*Sigh* Looks like I'm going with zero points for this round.

Not to sound conceited, but I never understood why people thought Tharja was going to lose. This site is still JRPG Central, especially when a gigantic series that everyone loves like Fire Emblem is involved. As much as western gaming has advanced compared to the Japanese counterparts, that never has or will translate to character strength in character battles on this site, unless the "gamer nerds" also hop on board like they did with Mass Effect or Portal. No one cared about Lollipop Chainsaw for more than 5 minutes. I waffled on this match a lot, but it was for 2nd/3rd place due to Borderlands 2 winning GOTY, never 1st place. Never a doubt in my mind Tharja would win this.

Oh, and this exact logic is why I picked Catherine to win her match. "Gamer nerds" cared WAY WAY WAY MORE about Catherine than TWEWY.

Uhhh, isn't Vaas a lock in that one? I'd never heard of any of the characters, but Farcry is at least an established franchise, as opposed to an obscure DS JRPG and a Japanese dating simulator that only got in because lol board 8

What? We saw TWEWY characters before and they were turbofodder in the contest after their game came out, and that was almost 7 years ago. I'm not saying Vaas is going to be a strong character, but like Tharja, coming from an establish franchise can make all the difference in the world in these turbofodder matches.

There is zero evidence on this site that would tell you Far Cry is more established than either TWEWY or Catherine other than your own personal anecdotal evidence.

yeah I picked vaas because he's a fairly known character from a AAA game(even if you saw only the trailer you would know him) while a lot of people are going to look at neku/catherine and say "who?". he's also pretty well received, that doesn't hurt.

did it for you:
89 (12, 15, 62)
63 (5, 21, 37)
98 (25, 26, 47)
43 (5, 13, 25)

and 15 votes currently. that's how irrelevant Japan is.

It's not unimaginable, especially if the reddit rally gains any steam. I don't think it'll happen.

Even if it does, I see a lot of Reddit/Gamefaqs overlap. A Tharja rally on their Nintendo board, or Fire Emblem, or 3DS board or w.e could happen in response

If Farcry 3 was able to get 6000 votes against some tough competition like Borderlands and Halo, it should have no problems gettin 20000+ votes against a generic anime character from a 7 year old JRPG and an obscure japanese dating simulator that only Board 8 has played.

I'm willing to bet there are less than 6,000 people combined that have played either TWEWY or Catherine that visit this site.

Catherine sold very well, Atlus's highest selling title, iirc. Now it's not on the level of Far Cry 3, but to say "Only played be B8" is a very, very, very bad assumption.
