Common Stats Topic Lingo Defined*~ SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote. This is the best example of SFF we've ever seen. However take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make perfect sense. Extrapolated Standings - The mathematical "strength" of a contestant that's determined based on their performance relative to the rest of the field. This number is typically based on the contest entrant's loss, but adjustments are sometimes made. So what does everyone make of this battle so far? I'm pretty impressed by Waluigi, I think he could win a match against some fodder opponents, maybe even beat guys like Pac-Man possibly. Raiden looks ok, but I still can't really gauge his strength very well. And is Link getting 72% still a bit low for him? Yeah,
I think people just forgot what the threshold for blowouts in multi-way
battles it (I know I did). Link "only" managed 70% in his best 4-way
showing with a character that would probably lose to Tingle, and that
was a 24 hour match. He surely would have hit 75% or better today if

First
time Shepard gets a FemShep picture. Would be interesting to see how
it affects Shepard. At least Shepard is getting that picture in round

Everyone thought the guy was going to flop this contest because of the perception Nintendo fandom doesn't really like him, but it didn't turn out that way at all. He would for sure win fairly handily against fodder opponents. Raiden is also doing what I expected, nothing really of note there. Yes, Link getting 72% is very low because not only are Isaac and Tingle really fodder characters Tingle's inclusion alone should have gotten Link many more votes. As you mentioned, the theory now is maybe Isaac is just stronger than we thought (Binding of Isaac does have a fanbase) rather than Link getting anti-voted by people that don't want to see him win again or Nintendo being unpopular at the moment due to the Wii U's struggles. We'll see in R2 which theory holds, I guess. --- In Oz; cruel is the usual punishment. |

I picked Aerith as soon as brackets were up, and I never looked back
until I changed to Shepard with 6 hours before brackets closed. I am

think Raiden looks fine here, Waluigi's probably stronger than what
people are willing to give credit for and he was inflated earlier thanks
to /v/ rallying. |

have no idea how Tharja/Juliet/Tina is going to end up. We have a
supporting TJF character from a reasonably popular and well-liked game, a
TJF main character from a reasonably popular game that got mediocre
reviews, and a minor character from the GotY 2012. I have Tharja in my

though, I'm putting that performance by Link down to anti votes. I just
can't see Isaac being worth a damn thing, and lol tingle. I still would love to see Link get beaten, but I think he's going to look a lot better later on when anti votes don't matter so much, similar to FF7/Pokemon in previous contests. |

these votals, my tiebreaker looks pretty bad. Hopefully, votals will go
up in later rounds as usual and there'll be some rallying for
Snake/Cloud and then rallying for Link later in the match so that my
