Trying to figure out how Vault Boy was deemed a "top character". Yes, his lone performance was quite impressive--almost 40% on an established medium-high midcarder--but a character with only one appearance and a very low seed in said appearance doesn't scream obvious returner.

If he does get in, though, he could wreak havoc. Tell me honestly, how many of this year's 3-seeds do you think would get upset if he was their 25-seed?

I'm not really too confident he got back in, as someone who was rallying him last time. I didn't really see anyone nomming him during the process and I didn't really bother to try to get noms for him either. I'd rather have Dragonborn anyway, since he's a much higher ceiling character.

Is he? Vault Boy is super iconic. Dragonborn is 'an armored dude'. He's like Nightmare except a silent protagonist. Is The Mute Factor that strong?

Well, Link and Crono are mutes and I don't think that really hurts their popularity. Its true that Dragonborn doesn't really have a set character design, but he's still a mute character you play as in one of the biggest games of the generation. Its not a guarantee he'll be that strong, he could end up Vault Boy level, but I just think his ceiling is potentially very high if people vote for him as a Skyrim proxy, kinda like how Link and Crono are proxies for their games. I don't think it'll matter too much, since theres very little chance he'll lose round 1 and he'll be beaten by Tifa, but he could make it respectable against her at least.

Zack Fair's too strong for Kefka, alone anyway...but what happens if you throw Aerith into their match? Zack/Aerith are close in strength and their FF7-fanbase could have an interesting split. It could also leave Kefka room to slip through as "Old Square" (as if FF7 still represents "New Square"). We saw something similar with Aeris/Cid barely beating Tails and Simon Belmont in a vote-in:

Prior to the Zack reveal, I was pretty sure that something strong had to show up because Kefka isn't supposed to be able to make deep runs and R3 qualifies as deep in a 5-round contest. Sure enough Zack delivered. Of course, Kefka's enough of a troll that losing to Lara wouldn't be unheard of...

You're assuming Allen is balancing each 3-pack. Considering one of them has Sly Cooper and Francis York Morgan in it, I find that doubtful.

Just thought of something in another topic; reposting my question here. Spoilers are for Portal 2.

So would a potato picture hurt GLaDOS, or would it be recognizable enough that she'd actually be a bit stronger due to uninformed joke voters mistaking her for a joke character? This is a possibility to consider; it's not like it'd be the first time a match pic had spoilers in it.
