All aboard the Pikachu>Crono train everyone, just saying. Assuming Magus makes it out of his division, the next 3 way is Crono/Pikachu/Magus. Now, I admit betting on Magus is quite possibly a very big assumption. That being said Pikachu has a decent shot at Crono anyways, and I'd say Pikachu has it easy if the seeding is such that Magus can make it past round 1.

Missingno. is in Mario's division. Even if it somehow was as strong as before, it can't do anything with that draw. Too bad.

Charizard vs ? Block. Pikachu took down L-Block the first time and Charizard easily won against L-Block the second time. Might be a tough draw for the ? Block. If it somehow lives up to the hype, Mega Man is a decent pick for a Noble Nine member to take down.

Here I was thinking Lightning might make it to Round 3 and then comes the ZARD charging through and potentially past Mega Man too.

With 243 characters there will be a lot of fodder though. Obviously if its anyone even remotely decent Magus will lose, but there's still a chance he advances

Not too scared of Magus. He will probably lose in round 1, and even if he doesn't, Crono can throttle him hard enough to beat Pikachu; it'd be more problematic against a near-elite character.

And the other two threepacks in that region (assuming all nine top seeds advance) are Squall vs Amaterasu vs Missingno and Creeper vs Red vs Pit. See any potential disasters here?

I don't think there will ever be an explicit final contest. The contests will just happen when they happen. There's no reason to ever promise to not have a contest again. Even if they did that, there's no reason they can't go back on their word whenever they want to.

Not explicitly, no, but if CBS doesn't want to fund any more contests, the board's name could be easily changed to "Board 8" and they could move on without a word.

Shame Samus won't really be tested.

Although the bottom division might be interesting. I think Zero should be able to hold on against ? Block (unless Protoman or someone is hiding somewhere in his area), which actually might spell doom for Mega Man against Charizard next round.
