Guru
support will get Yuri in for sure. Prinny bypassed the vote-ins
altogether in 2010 with Guru support and that was with 5 times the
amount of noms as we're getting this year. --- http://www.miscupload.com/upload/452457071929141623517416.gif |

Soap
is a character from Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. So he must have
gotten a lot of casual support. Kind of like how Master Chief gets a
high seed in our contests. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as SuperNiceDog, Guru Champ! |
we just reached 18000 nominations. --- ... |
18000 is low, isn't it? --- Being addicted to Ulti is like being addicted to cocaine. In comparison, being addicted to Bio is like being addicted to Pixie Sticks. -PrivateBiscuit1 |
Yeah, it's only 20% of what we had for the last Character Battle, which had 90,000 nominations. --- Nominate Hero from Dragon Quest V for Character Battle IX! http://backloggery.com/articuno2001/sig.gif |
We don't even have a banner yet. --- Black Turtle did a pretty good job. |
18000
is low considering we got about 90000 nominations for Character Battle
2010. Our traffic to the front page of the site has dropped off
significantly since 2010, so we aren't getting as many nominations
because site visitors can't find the nomination form. Rivalry Rumble only had 14811 nominations, so at least we've gotten more nominations for this contest despite the fact our average vote totals are currently around 39000 (it was 50000 before the start of Rivalry Rumble). --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as SuperNiceDog, Guru Champ! |

I sent Bacon my banners. I hope he throws them up somewhere. I kinda like us having control over the bracket but getting more noms is probably for the best --- ~Zen |
yeah
putting up banners would definitely help people get interested in
nominating. People viewing the front page might not even know this is
happening --- http://img524.imageshack.us/img524/4343/narm2.gif |
Nobody even goes to the front page anymore. He needs either banner ads or that golden tab on top of the page again. Though front page banners would help too cuz yeah nobody cares about contests and even less care if there are no big flashy banners. --- ~Zen |

Finally,
let's talk about the Character Battle. We've gotten a huge number of
nominees so far, but we definitely want to see more. After all, we need
over 200 combatants to fill out our unique bracket we've made for this
battle. :) Also noms ending at the end of next week. --- http://i848.photobucket.com/albums/ab48/Leonhart4/Squall.jpg |

Hrm...here's
a crazy idea for you guys. Double Elimination bracket, bottom third
seeds start in Losers already, two polls run concurrently, 12 hour
matches until the semifinals (winners AND losers). Sounds like a
logistical nightmare, but it's about the only thing I can think of that
makes sense. Three-ways would be 196 characters so that's probably not
it, but would be my pick if Bacon's counting in votings. |

eh double elimination sounds way too messy --- Yo Where All The White Women At |
Masato_Tanaka posted... eh double elimination sounds way too messy Totally agree but bacon The man only has brilliant ideas or awful ones. Just look at how we went from GotD to Rivalry Rumble! |
With noms scheduled to close by the end of next week, we'll have enough time to reach 20000 nominations. Over 200 characters in the bracket sounds interesting, but it will probably lead to a bad format again. I bet we might end up with 4-ways again, but with 12-hour matches in every round before the semifinals. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as SuperNiceDog, Guru Champ! |
From: KanzarisKelshen | Posted: 5/17/2013 5:57:51 PM | #235 Three-ways would be 196 characters so that's probably not it, but would be my pick if Bacon's counting in votings. 3-ways would only be 196 if they were 3-way in the first round and 1v1 afterwards, with 12 hour polls (wait, that'd be 192. no idea where you got 196.) 243 would be the 3-way number all the way through with 24 hour matches, but then it'd only take a month. the most sensible sounding 3-way to me would be for 3 rounds, then 1v1 for the final 8. 216 characters, 24 hour matches, takes exactly as long as a 64 character 1v1. --- http://24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lxkdr0uNc91qlu5jao1_r1_400.gif |
20000 is pretty good considering everything. I think this contest will at least fare A LOT better than the Rivalry Rumble. Of course, if Allen did another banner, that should push noms more to 25-30000... What if it's battle royales, each with 8 characters eliminating two at a time. Probably not, but I expect something wacky at least. --- Something something something ^Poorly disguised anti-caps sig |
I really would like to see two polls / two matches being run at the same time. It's something different and it would make it easier to spot cheating while votes are tallied in the polls. --- R.I.P. GrapefruitKing Never Changing This Signature. Started Since May 14, 2013. |
The
way the polls are positioned right now would make it a bad idea to have
2 matches running at the same time. The only way I would have 2
matches running at the same time is having the 2 matches side-by-side
(next to each other). If our matches are set-up so there is a second
match below the first match, the first match will get normal vote totals
while the second match suffers from reduced vote totals. Put them
side-by-side and you can reduce the chances of the second match
suffering from reduced vote totals. --- Luster Soldier --- ~Shield Bearer~ | ~Data Analyst~ Popular at school, but not as cool as SuperNiceDog, Guru Champ! |
From: KanzarisKelshen | #235 Three-ways would be 196 characters so that's probably not it, but would be my pick if Bacon's counting in votings. 1*3=3 3*3=9 9*3=27 27*3=81 81*3=243 Thus three ways would work perfectly! --- Text and stuff and bla |
How would you even make double elimination feasible with that many characters? --- Leonhart posting from his phone |
Regardless
I am expecting a totally new format so I don't think it'll be threeways
or anything. Can't see Bacon trying to hype it up as something totally
different if that were the case. --- Leonhart posting from his phone |
From: LeonhartFone | #246 How would you even make double elimination feasible with that many characters? 256 characters 1v1 double elimination 24 hour matches. After going without a contest for so long we get a year-and-a-half contest. Seriously, you can't I think. Unless it's something like two polls a day + 12 hour matches. --- xp1337: Don't you wish there was a spell-checker that told you when you a word out? GotD (219/384) Melee v FFX |
Djungelurban posted... From: KanzarisKelshen | #235Three-ways would be 196 characters so that's probably not it, but would be my pick if Bacon's counting in votings. You're assuming it's not 'top two advance'. Hence 192 (not 196, whoops). |
3
ways would be awful, double elimination would take all year... guess we

point. --- thengamer.com/guru thengamer.com/xstats board8.wikia.com For your consideration: Lee Everett - The Walking Dead |
