The last few game finals have been epic. OoT wasn't the favourite going into BGE 2009. But it was clearly a stronger game than fF7 since 2004. I think OoT should be excluded. FF7 should still remain because I think there are several games that could get over 40% on FF7. So people are certain FF7 is still the #2 game here? What about RBY? I'd love to see a BGE contest minus OOT, or even just GOTG would be good. Even though Xenoblade lost about 3% from the end of the board vote to the end of the Power Hour, Xenoblade's power hour was its second best hour of the entire poll (it only did better during the 4:00-5:00 AM hour). ME3 recovered after its horrible board vote and gained about 3% during the remainder of the Power Hour. Borderlands 2 finished the Power Hour with a lower percentage than what it had at the end of the board vote. For most of the night vote, Borderlands 2 continued to go up as it recovered from their board vote. At 4:00 AM, Borderlands 2 reached 39.14% and started to go down again as it sucks in Europe. Borderlands 2 fell all the way down to 38.70% at 10:25 AM before going back up again. ME3 was going up in percentage for part of the night vote until 3:00 AM. At 3:00 AM, ME3 had 27.90% and dropped all the way down to 27.55% at 4:55 AM. But after 4:55 AM, ME3 started to go back up again. Xenoblade was losing percentage for slightly over half of the night vote (until 3:50 AM). After 3:50 AM, Xenoblade started going up again and reached its highest percentage of the night vote at 5:50 AM. After that point, Xenoblade collapsed as we headed into the morning vote. Xenoblade's morning vote was a rocky adventure, as it was going up and down in percentage quite often thanks to the strong European presence during the morning vote. Once we reach 12:00 PM, Xenoblade finally reaches the point where it has a consistent trend of losing percentage. The ASV was dominated by Borderlands 2 and ME3, as Xenoblade collapsed during the ASV. At the start of the ASV, Xenoblade was at 32.86% and ended up having 32.36% at the end of the ASV. Early on in the ASV, it looked like Borderlands 2 was winning that easily while ME3 was losing percentage for the first hour of the ASV. But after 3:30 PM, ME3 finally shows up to the party and starts gaining percentage with the ASV. Later in the ASV at 6:55 PM, ME3 reached its highest percentage of 28.49% in this poll and then starts to go back down again. ME3 falls down to 28.32% by 9:30 PM, but it manages to get back some of that lost percentage during the remaining 2 1/2 hours in the poll. Xenoblade lost 3 different hours to ME3 (7:00-8:00 PM, 8:00-9:00 PM, and the final hour) during this poll. Also we can't have a Game of the Generation contest until the next Playstation and Xbox have been released or near released. The
finals of an average character battle are equally boring to me. I don't
dislike the contests or anything, but the finals tend to be as boring
as a turbo fodder character/game vs the strongest character/game to me.
It's probably somewhat unavoidable for any new contest that would
happen, but a new contest would still be nice as long as it's not

Depending on whether Microsoft releases their next system later this year might determine whether or not we get a GotG contest in the fall. Considering
I don't have much hope for the stuff I like doing well in other contest
settings, I'll take 4-5 rounds of Pokemon Trainer Red vs. Pokemon

My thoughts on what games should be allowed into that contest: All DS and PSP games, even those released prior to the release of the Xbox 360. DS or PSP games that were also released on the 3DS or Vita would also be eligible. All games released on the Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii would be eligible, even if they were also released on Wii U, 3DS, or Vita. PC games will only be allowed if they were released on or after 11/22/2005, which is the release date of the Xbox 360. should stay. OOT, definitely not. However, it might be interesting to
see how OOT benefits from getting what some regard to be the best

I don't think we've ever had an "official" top ten when it comes to games unless you count that top ten games list in 2005. Skyrim would have to flex its muscles in an actual contest before it earns top ten status though. --- "Stay with me until the end. Please." "Not until the end. Always." |

sure a lot of people would peg LTTP for #3, but I think it showed it

be kinda surprised if RE4 was a top ten game. FFX beat it pretty
thoroughly in GOTD, and it's struggled against the likes of KH2 and MGS3

there wouldn't be several games that fit in between the gap between FFX

well, I think you're evaluating them based on a contest match. that's a bad idea. I think Half-Life 2 and Portal have an outside shot at top 10 as well, and I'd never consider them in that tier. it's just the audience. Halo was never a top 10 game on this site either. --- xyzzy |

Well, FFX has always looked decently better than RE4, no matter what metric you want to look at. Besides, there's not much more to evaluate them on other than gut feeling or GOTYs or something.
