Who would win in a match, Quadratus (colossus #2 in SOTC) or Guybrush Threepwood?

Fixed.

On another note, how well do you guys think Blast Corps, Diddy Kong Racing, and Jet Force Gemini would perform if they made it into a games contest? They...would probably all be really bad fodder aside from DKR which could pass for high fodder/extremely low midcarder, right. Conker's Bad Fur Day already performed like terrible fodder (how sad), so it probably only makes sense for JFG to be even weaker and Blast Corps likely being outclassed by both of them. Uhhh...Wii Sports vs. Jet Force Gemini or Blast Corps who've you got?

Bacon prefers to come up with the contest idea first before getting CBSi to provide the money for the prizes. We wouldn't have to wait as long as for contests if Bacon asks CBSi to provide some money towards the prizes. While waiting for approval from CBSi, that's when he should work on coming up with the contest idea. Once the money for the contest has been approved by CBSi, then Bacon can announce the contest at any time, so he doesn't need to finalize the contest idea before the money has been approved.

Under most circumstances, CBSi should always assume that the money for the contest will go towards a standard bracket contest. If Bacon doesn't know what kind of contest he has in mind, he could tell CBSi that it might another Character Battle or Games Contest.

http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/nominate_entry.php

I wonder why that page is active right now? That's for last year's Rivalry Rumble. It even shows the nominations I made. If that nomination form is active right now, I guess it might suggest that Bacon is working on the nomination form for the next contest.

By the way, I switched over to another account and made a nomination. I ended up getting nomination 14812 on another account, so that means we had a total of 14811 nominations for the Rivalry Rumble.

Also, these pages are working again:

http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/rivals_mybracket.html
http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/rivals_bracket.html
http://www.gamefaqs.com/features/rivals_stats.html

So you could view your bracket again if you wanted to.

It's more likely that there is a bug on the site which allows you to view the nomination form on GameFAQs. After all, a lot of bugs popped up on GameFAQs when we had the move to AWS.

I think it is very likely going to be a straightforward contest, with no gimmicks. He already tried to make something 'new' last year and I believe the feedback was pretty clear, no body liked it.

The question is whether we are going to have games, series or character? I am hoping for a games contest with no restrictions, game of the decade was really fun and I would like to have another games contest with the older games included.

We should just have a straight up Character Battle to celebrate 10 years of contests, even if we've already passed the 10 year anniversary of the final match.

I'm noticing that the new polls are going up slightly earlier than usual. Today's poll just went up at 11:59:43 PM EST, or about 18 seconds earlier than usual. This could cause problems for the First Vote contest, especially if the new poll does not go up consistently at 11:59:43 PM (or off by one second at the most).

And now today's poll went up at 11:59:38 PM. This is becoming a big problem for both the Oracle Challenge and TRE's First Vote contest. New polls are continuing to go up earlier than earlier than usual. Soon, there will be a time when new polls will be going up before 11:59:00 PM EST. This is definitely one of the bugs associated with the new AWS server that GameFAQs is on.

#232 | Team Rocket Elite (Moderator) | Posted 9/9/2012 9:24:40 PM | message detail
It's not really a problem for the First Vote contest. Back in the day, polls could be early or late by 15 minutes or more. People attempting to get the First Vote just had to keep trying during the time period. The Oracle Contest just had people submit their entries early and will probably go back to that.

Bacon doesn't know about the bug yet, but I can always report the bug to him so it can be fixed.

As far as the Oracle Challenge is concerned, maybe I'll consider asking Kaxon to go back to the 11:55 PM deadline for predictions.

why? that rivalry contest was stupid and a lot of matches were weird

Have an entire Character Battle without Link. At the end, throw Link in a series of bonus matches, nonstop, one after the other. As voters get increasingly tired of him, pit him against someone with crazy bandwagon potential like Missingno.

We get an exciting, Link-less bracket with at least four potential champions, Link fans get a bunch of Link matches at the end, and everyone gets the Link loss they've been waiting for, provided they sit through the week of Hylian Hammerings.

Missingno is not a good opponent for beating Link. Any sort of "bandwagon potential" it may have is overrated.

Plus, I'd rather have Link win than Missingno, yuck.

And meh, as long as Link had never managed to break 54% on Cloud, it was at least close. 52-53% wins are exciting enough. 58% gives off an air of finality.

There was nothing exciting about Cloud/Link because it was 58% for the first hour. The rest of the match was Cloud slowly cutting percentage and making the final result look somewhat respectable.

But we knew what the trends were, and that it would end much closer than that. Plus, Cloud won hours. Prior to that rivals match, Link had never managed to win all 24 hours before against Cloud. Not even on the day TP came out, when Cloud squeezed out a win in the final hour of the match.

Besides, you're coming up with very technical reasons to excuse what we all know was not an exciting match in the least unless you're a big Link fan or FFVII hater.

"Cloud won hours!"

"We knew Cloud would make it closer in the end!"

These do not make a good match. These things are completely irrelevant.
