talked to creativename and the match picture archive is back up.
However, there appears to be a problem with the site triggering
anti-virus software. He's going to contact his host about the issue. If
you've visited the site recently, it might be a good idea to scan your
computer for problems. It's probably best to avoid the site for now as

Yes,
I emailed creativename about maybe 2 weeks ago about his site
triggering an anti-virus alert. I pointed out a very specific piece of
JavaScript on his site that is triggering the anti-virus alert and

Luster, if you could have any poll pop up tomorrow, which poll would it be? For a contest-oriented poll, I would like to see Final Fantasy VII vs. The Secret of Monkey Island. With how strong Monkey Island is in Europe, it would be hilarious to see Final Fantasy VII losing percentage during the Total Domination Zone. Also, that poll would give us an idea of what percentage of Europeans would be willing to vote for Monkey Island over everything else. Because we know how Monkey Island and its characters always seem to get into the contests despite being turbofodder. Final Fantasy VII is stronger than Ocarina of Time in Europe, so that's why I chose to put Monkey Island against Final Fantasy VII. For a non-contest poll, I want to see a re-run of this poll: http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=2715 It's been a good 5 years since we last had that poll, and the trends would be crazy because of the AIM vs. Windows Live war. Team Rocket Elite posted... creativename said he didn't get the e-mail. Could you tell me what the problem is so I can pass it on to him? I have sent an e-mail to you. Please forward the e-mail directly to creativename. The e-mail contains a few extra comments that I did not include in my original e-mail. I first sent him an e-mail on June 6th about his site, the one that he apparently never saw. Out of all of the pages from creativename's site that were cached by Google, I found a page from May 28th of this year that does not have the script which is triggering anti-virus alerts. I assume at some time between May 28th and June 6th, a malicious script was inserted into all pages on creativename's site. of these stupid gimmicks remind me of the Final 3 in Survivor. No
hardcore fans like it, and the casuals probably don't care, but the

Today's poll seems fairly similar to this poll from about 4 months ago: http://www.gamefaqs.com/poll/index.html?poll=4646 The only difference between that poll and today's poll is the extra option for "None of the above". When
GameFAQs went into a Read-Only mode earlier to switch over to a new
server, the poll disappeared from the front page, although you could
still view the results during that time. While GameFAQs was in
Read-Only mode, you couldn't vote in the poll. So today's poll will

Once
GameFAQs was back up again, I thought there would have been a slight
surge with the incoming votes in the poll, but it didn't happen. After
GameFAQs was back up again, I thought the first few updates of the poll
would have had somewhere around 200 to 250 votes per update, but it
ended up being around 100 to 180 votes per update (what we were getting

There
shouldn't be a burst of votes since no one knew exactly what time the
site would be back up. Also, the type of users who would sit there and
refresh the page for hours to try and get their vote in without knowing
when the site would be back to normal are more likely to have just made
an effort to vote before the site went into read-only mode. Most of the votes from read-only mode time probably won't bother trying to vote later and the ones that do will be spread out across the rest of the day. I don't think there will be any spikes later either. --- SuperNiceDog was not so nice to my bracket. Congrats to SuperNiceDog for winning the Rivalry Rumble Guru Contest! |
The
poll was not on the front page during the Read-Only mode time, so most
people would not have attempted to vote during that time. You wouldn't
be able to vote during the Read-Only mode time unless you use the same
tricks that are used to steal the first vote in contest matches. Even
if you tried to vote during Read-Only mode, your vote would not have
been accepted. I thought the burst of votes would have come immediately after the poll showed up on the front page again and last for about 15 to 30 minutes before the votes per update returned to the same levels we had right before the start of Read-Only mode. There have been times where we do get a burst of votes, but that has happened when GameFAQs was down because no one was able to access the site. Usually, GameFAQs would have to be down for about 1 hour or more in order for the poll to get a burst of votes once people are able to access GameFAQs again. What happened today was different, because at least you could access the site.
