would not be opposed to a Best System contest, but I do agree that

A
problem with Best System would be how predictable it'd be, and how
small the bracket would have to be. Imagine how much turbo-fodder we'd
have to deal with if it was a 64-system bracket. It'd be too short, it wouldn't really be that interesting, and I doubt anyone would really root for systems the same way they do for characters or games. Not
a consensus winner, but 90% of the actual matches will be predictable,
and most of the ones that aren't will be between fodder anyway. There
will only be two or three matches that could go either way between

That poll is just one of 3 polls this year to get over 60000 votes. We have had 32 entrant contests before, but both of them sucked. Is
there anyone who really argues about whether the PS3 or 360 is better
these days, especially with the Wii to hate on? The people who really
gave a s*** about which console is best have pretty much grown up and

It's
not about whether the PS3 or 360 is better. I want to see how the PS3
or 360 stand up against the PS2, GameCube, SNES, or other systems. That
would be far more interesting than having the PS3 going up against the

The
trends for this poll will be very interesting. I noticed the English
speaking countries prefer dubbed over subbed. But for countries without
English as an official language, they prefer subbed over dubbed. The first poll option has a ridiculous percentage in South America and Asia. UltimaterializerX posted... I use subtitled whenever possible, and only listen to games in English. That's not really what the poll is asking. It's basically asking on whether or not you prefer Japanese or English voices when given the choice. Like several fighting games, Sonic games, and RPGs are dual audio, giving you a choice. That said, I usually choose English voices no matter how bad they could be. Oh wait nevermind, that "I don't want to read" part is kinda dumb. And I'm surprised that Subtitled is winning, either GameFAQs is full of Japanophiles (which could very well be true) or they don't want to say that they don't like reading. --- O brilliant blade of coldest steel, rend the infinite darkness and crush my enemies to nothing... I picked it depends on the game. The more "Western" it is, I prefer English: Metal Gear, Sonic, Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy, etc. The more anime or Japanese inspired it is, I prefer Japanese: Tales, Persona, games based directly on anime, etc. Fighting games fall under "who cares" and lie in an equilibrium where I switch back and forth when I'm bord. --- http://i498.photobucket.com/albums/rr345/Rakaputra/pjbasis.png SuperNiceDog - 1, pjbasis - 0 |

Another part of this perspective is how important multi-platform games are now. Skyrim, Mass Effect 2, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 won the past three GotYs here, for example. Before that, only one multi-platform game won it here: Resident Evil 4...which was a Gamecube-exclusive most of 2005 and would have won without its PS2-release. When most of the best games in recent years are on PS3/360/PC, once-exclusive companies like Square broadened their range, and Nintendo (THE company that depends on exclusives) has lost ground with our demographics...the idea of "console wars" loses its relevance. --- http://img812.imageshack.us/img812/3492/eponaharr.jpg Nominate SuperNiceDog's Guru-choice, then Epona. |

Considering its fantasy setting and how most of the names are English sounding, I'd say that it has a "Western" feel to it. And you can argue all your want on how strange Nomura's design can be, but even his designs aren't overly 'anime' looking. I mean it is the one JRPG series that appeals the most to Western people. to be fair, Tales and Persona are both anime-styled IIRC. I have no
personal experience with either (although those are two of the JRPG
series I'm most interested in. I'm more interested in
non-Symphonia/Vesperia Tales and Persona than I am in post-FF9 Final
Fantasy). |

Well,
we didn't get a poll today related to the GameFAQs contests. Also,
today's poll is being glitchy right now. The front page randomly

Trend charts for yesterday's poll: https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=0AgBWiYjlMLwYdDB4STVRbXNydThGaVp6OUwwQmV5b3c&gid=2 4 out of the 5 options in yesterday's poll had a difference of at least 10% or greater between their best hour and worst hour. The third option had the least extreme trends. "it's around 100 degrees here" and "it's over 90 where I live" both had strong Power Hours, ASV, and SNV. Both them were terrible with the night vote and early part of the morning vote. "it's around 100 degrees here" got all the way down to 31.28% at 8:57 AM. After that point, it gained nearly 3% during the rest of the poll. For "it's over 90 where I live" it got all the way down to 29.39% at 7:02 AM before gaining about 2% for the rest of the poll. "it's close to 80 degrees" had the least extreme trends here. It had a slightly below average Power Hour and a slightly above average night vote and morning vote. However, it continued to gain percentage during the middle of the day even when the first 2 options were also gaining like crazy. It was able to get up to 15.02% at 3:33 PM before going back down again and losing 0.61% for the rest of the poll. "it's only 70 here" and "It's 60 or lower" both had a very terrible board vote and Power Hour, but it had a very strong night vote and early morning vote. Once the ASV kicked in during the morning, both options collapsed like crazy for the rest of the poll. "it's only 70 here" reached 13.30% at 7:57 AM and lost about 2.20% for the rest of the poll. would not rule out the possible chance that we won't get anymore "Got
Console?" polls for the next few days. I suspect that we are getting
"Got 3DS?" because of the upcoming release of 3DS LL/XL. That might
