Common Stats Topic Lingo Defined*~ SFF (Same Fanbase Factor) - Same Fanbase Factor is the theory that, if two contestants share a common fanbase, the weaker of the two options will underperform in a direct matchup. For instance, Link was expected to defeat Ganon with 65% of the vote in 2004, based on their 2003 values. Instead, Link collected near 88% of the vote. This is the best example of SFF we've ever seen. However take some SFF labels with a grain of salt, as many people will slap it onto any match that doesn't make perfect sense. Extrapolated Standings - The mathematical "strength" of a contestant that's determined based on their performance relative to the rest of the field. This number is typically based on the contest entrant's loss, but adjustments are sometimes made. have been a lot of boring polls lately. In the past 7 days, there have
been 5 polls that contain "How do you feel" in the poll question.
These "How do you feel" polls (including yesterday's poll) are just
overkill. I'd be more in favor of spreading the "How do you feel" polls
over a longer period of time (1 month or more) instead of cramming them

Based on the 2006 x-stats, the result of this poll OUGHT to be... FF - 42.61% MGS - 17.98% MM - 17.2% FF - 15.5% PS - 6.71% And instead we're at... Which game series celebrating its 25th anniversary this year is your favorite? Final Fantasy 46.87% 1773 Metal Gear 20.17% 763 Mega Man 19.48% 737 Street Fighter 8.19% 310 Phantasy Star 5.29% 200 TOTAL VOTES 3783 Ouch @ Street Fighter! Not a huge surprise though, don't think we'd have expected it to hold up too well in a multiway poll against such strong opponents. Mega Man doing good for itself in the early going, but should take a tumble once we get past the power hour. Metal
Gear got 26.26% against Zelda in 2006. It's at 29.67% right now against
FF. That predicts FF to get about 44.25% against Zelda. That seems

Trend charts for yesterday's poll: https://spreadsheet.google.com/pub?key=0AgBWiYjlMLwYdG9YcjBkX3hZRldpOGxxUGFxeVZOQlE&gid=1 Final Fantasy starts out the poll with a bad board vote, but recovers after the bad start. It dominates the night vote and continues to dominate throughout the morning vote when it was gaining percentage in North America during the morning. Then the ASV kicks in and Final Fantasy starts dying for the rest of the poll. Mega Man has a good Power Hour before it collapses during the night vote and morning vote. Mega Man does well in the ASV and SNV. Metal Gear does well with the board vote and Power Hour (probably because of FF's bad start). Metal Gear does okay with the night vote, but it was terrible in the morning vote and ASV. Phantasy Star was all board vote and Power Hour. Morning vote and ASV were terrible, though.
