don't tend to fare too well in Japan, versus their more 2D counterparts.
3D Mario has the same troubles that Zelda does, although not quite as

Gah,
maybe Nintendo should start using its $10 billion dollar cash reserves
to take over other companies. At this point they have $10B in cash and
$5B in other assets, and $19B market cap, (0 debt of course) so the
market is valuing the entire company at $4B, which is less than they
made in 2008 and 2009 alone. Which is absurdly low IMO. Also, their market cap is now only about 6% above Sony's, so they're in danger of falling behind Sony for the first time since they surpassed them in 2007. --- Congratulations to SuperNiceDog, Guru Winner, who was smart enough to pick your 7 time champion, Link. |

reference, the iPhone GotY poll from last year had 330 votes after 5

think it's very unlikely that we will get an iPhone poll. A lot of
iPhone games are also being released on the Android as well, and Android
has the higher ownership over iPhone on this site (as I pointed out

This new poll-format means LoZ:SS has one less excuse; it could have blamed BW and
LoZ:OoT3D if it didn't do well in the overall-GotY. A remake of the
site's #1 game could have done reasonable damage to LoZ:SS when coupled

LoZ:SS instead of having to deal with both a DS-GotY and 3DS-GotY. Let's see what else from last year can be combined/skipped: System of the Year - Untouchable. Game of the Year (Final) - Untouchable. Game of the Year - Untouchable. Best New Original Title - This was the year of sequels. I can't recall any big new IPs off the top of my head, although I'm probably missing some. Could be skipped? Best Downloadable Console Game - Might be combined with Indie. Best Indie Game - Aren't all Indie games DL anyway? Could and should be combined with DL games. Best Multi-Platform Game (Final) Best Multi-Platform Game (Day 2) Best Multi-Platform Game (Day 1) - All three are probably untouchable. This was another big year for multiplats. Best Xbox 360 Exclusive - Untouchable. Best Wii Exclusive - Untouchable. Best PlayStation 3 Exclusive - Untouchable. Best PC Exclusive - Was there anything besides Witcher 2? This might get scrapped, as Witcher 2 is coming to 360 and that could be reason enough to stick it in with the multiplats. Best PSP Game - Already combined. Best iPhone Game - Will probably be renamed "Best Smartphone/Tablet Game" or something. Best DS Game - Already combined. I'm guessing we knock off at least 3-4 days. Can
anyone else who had a Karma entry confirm if they've received prizes
yet? I think I might have gotten some combination of 3rd and 4th n both
contests, because my Karma is 869 and the last time I remember checking

I'm
sort of impressed by how LoZ:OoT3D's doing compared to its
3DS-competition. Ports are always much weaker than the original game
(which is why BW's beating it), but it's still beating two well-received
original Mario-games combined. We don't see ports be a system's
strongest game in a year very often, but it's clear which game is paving

PC Exclusive - Was there anything besides Witcher 2? This might get

OoT3D
might have something to do with the 3DS's ownership rate on GameFAQs,
but in the wider world it's all about Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 3D Land,
and, in Japan, Monster Hunter. --- Who knew the Rivalry Rumble would be so predictable? SuperNiceDog, that's who. |

It's
more about SFF. OoT3D may be much weaker than the original due to being
a remake, but I'd be surprised if it lost so easily to B/W on its own. The real crime is SM3DL getting SFF'd to hell. But anyway, looking at this poll and the previous linked one from earlier in the year, B/W might just beat out Portal 2 for third this year. EDIT: Indirectly anyway. I forgot that Portal 2 is going to get wrecked by Skyrim in the multiplatform poll. Meaning that it's practically a shoe-in to get into the final poll here. B/W
is a far better game than D/P (and that seems to be the consensus,
don't think it's just me), so I would not be at all surprised if that

final GotY polls really should have several multi platform games these
days. Its hard to take it seriously when Iphone games and downloadable

There were a ton of people raving about it here. Probably more than any game this year. But yeah, I suppose there was more of a fuss on this board about D/P, but there's also other factors to consider. First up, that was the time when Pokemon had just started to become accepted again, and came at an ideal moment for sparking tons of discussion. Second, new online features. And lastly, but perhaps most importantly... The board was about three times as active then. The reason B/W is stronger than the last two gens is simple. It's just that good.
