I'm taking this contest to be more like a series contest with a twist than a character contest, based on how results have gone. Super Mario Bros as a series is really close to Final Fantasy as a series, and would beat FF7 alone, so yeah. --- No problem! This is a cute and pop genocide of love! |

This
isn't about series unless the trainers are in the match, the end. It's
clear some characters really fell off because they had terrible
partners, but in general the strongest characters all won because
they've always been the strongest characters here. Characters are in the matches; this is a character battle. It doesn't mean Cloud can beat Link just because Sephiroth is there (I still don't see any logic saying why someone who'd vote Link over Cloud suddenly wouldn't because they see someone else from Cloud's game sitting there). Link still wins. Mario still loses to everyone here. There's no logic to suggest Mario can resist SFF from Link... look at the last contest for your proof. Mario struggled against a Pokemon fueled rally entrant but still ended up with a win, without being able to SFF a Nintendo counterpart very well. He himself was drilled into the ground by Link, scoring his worst 1v1 percentage against him. Link has only looked even more invincible during this contest and has yet to be held under 75%. --- :> |

BOLD PREDICTION: The upcoming match will fail to break 1000 votes at the freeze. Given how bad the votals have been, no match in this contest has reached 1000 votes at the freeze. Sephiroth
there presumably adds a lot more than Ganondorf, considering Cloud/Seph
is a 55-45 match. It'd be silly to assume everyone who would vote
for/against Cloud in a given match doesn't flip their vote if Seph's
there. So if you think this is a character battle through and through
you should expect Cloud to have a good chance. I'm saying it's a series contest for a lot more than the trainers. Blowouts from the fighting game guys, new pairings doing poorly, Donkey Kong looking respectable. There are a lot of results that make more sense if you think of it as a series contest more than a character contest or even "rivalry factor" --- No problem! Mortal Kombat (series) vs Resident Evil 4 in a series contest, though? Yeah I take MK there. That match makes even less sense if you try and boil it down to characters. Sub-Zero arguably doesn't even beat Leon Kennedy and Scorpion isn't that much stronger than Ada Wong either. --- No problem! This is a cute and pop genocide of love! |

Ness is stronger than GLaDOS? I'm not sure I buy that. I also don't buy Portal demolishing Earthbound in a series contest either.
