So 2 semifinals matches left and the winner in both of these has around 90% change to win.Not exciting.Anyway I will do my part and vote for Trainers and Clouderoth but I can't do anything else.I hope the pictures for Trainers/Clouderoth give them a huge advantage.

Sure the matches are obvious but it's exciting for us perfect battlers. Who has no faith in their tiebreaker and will bank or take a crazy gamble? How many perfects will be left at the end? All these questions and more!

I honestly don't care as long as Cloud gets FFVII pics. No more Advent Children/Dissidia bollocks

Dunno about limiting the percentage risks to such rigid increments, but if he didn't, most battlers would probably do a 10% risk on Link for 55-65 or a 5% risk for 58-63.

And I might just do a straight Link pick to double up. The prizes are kinda meh outside the Top 3, and you will probably need some 5% accuracy to get those. I'd much rather be one of the few people left standing with perfects at the end of it all.

This. Straight Link, all points.

Too terrified of losing my battle bracket because he SFFs Mario a little more than I thought he might!

If the final match had been Link/Cloud, I might risk it all on a 1% pick. But not on Link/Mario, when I have no idea how much SFF will be involved here or whether or not Mario can take advantage of the rivalry factor to lessen the damage from the SFF.

Exactly. I was just thinking I would definitely be considering a 5 or even 1% pick with Link vs. Cloud but Mario/Link is far more difficult to call.

Mario/Trainers, Link/Cloud, and Trainers/Cloud would us some comparisons on what Mario indirectly gets on Link, since I assume the SFF in Mario/Trainers should be very minimal (or no SFF at all).

I'd like to see a clarification on the ranges here

there's a huge difference between "10% range you can set" and "static 10% range"

I feel it would be a lot more interesting if you could set the range, and then picks would get sorted by whose center was the closest

You can't set the range??? Like I can't bet with 55.00% to 64.99% ? I have to chose between 50.00 to 59.99 OR 60.00 to 69.99 ???

at this point I'm assuming we can't because all of Bacon's examples were generic ranges, but it's quite possible that's not how it'll be

Also, I guess this means Squall/Seifer could've beaten Crono/Lavos?

Squall > Crono in 2012 let's do this

Well, given the way Chrono Trigger continues to just age, I wouldn't consider it impossible by next year! But in all honesty, RIVALRIES MATTER easily explains this one because Crono/Lavos isn't a rivalry at all, and I actually might take Seifer > Lavos 1v1.

We've never had such a weak final 8 entrant in Alucard/Dracula Before either.

Yes we have. Scorpion made the Elite Eight in 2002. Yes, Alucard/Dracula's percentage was even worse, but either way, this isn't the first time we've had a tripling in the Elite 8.

If L/G matches C/S, it means the Snakes are worth 70.43% on Alucard/Dracula. I haven't been around for a week, but I suppose there's still not a lot of expectation of Cloud/Sephiroth doing anything?

He obviously can still SFF Nintendo; but he can't pull uber ridiculous stuff like 82% on Yoshi anymore.

Link/Yoshi 2004 is to this day Link's most impressive match, in my opinion. He could probably easily get 82% against Yoshi/Boshi, though. >_>

Seifer is weaksauce.
Based on what exactly?

I believe it is because Squall should beat both Sora and Dante with more than 51% 1-on-1. It indicates Seifer is weaker, as a rival, at least, than Vergil or Riku.

Match LXI: (1) Mario/Bowser vs. (1) Pokemon Trainer Red/Pokemon Trainer Blue

Previous Round

Mario/Bowser – 66.66%
Mega Man X/Zero – 33.34%

Pokemon Trainer Red/Pokemon Trainer Blue – 60.57%
Samus Aran/Ridley – 39.43%

Analysis

The contest is almost over, but that didn’t stop our four semi-finalists to blow past 60% against their competition. Mario and Bowser were ever so close to getting a solid doubling while the trainers showed us that Ryu and Ken would have had a close match against Samus and Ridley, can’t blame bracket positioning because very few thought the trainers would be this dominant in their wins.

The trainers needed a big win last round to show that they were capable of handling Mario and Bowser and for the most part they failed to impress in that aspect. While a bandwagon could form I just don’t see it happening. The feeling is not there which is not surprising as the contest as a whole has never reached the magic that the contests of past have given us.

Based on Mario and Bowser’s performances if I didn’t know any better I would be ranking them up there with Link and Cloud. Of course they are likely the third strongest pair of the contest, but they would have to produce something special here and hope their opponent is Cloud/Sephiroth in order to look like they can compete with them.

charmander6000’s Bracket: Mario/Bowser > Samus Aran/Ridley

charmander6000’s Prediction: Mario/Bowser wins, 58.58% - 41.42%

For the record, one could very well say that "Link is not a good partner for Ganondorf" has not kicked in yet because Link's team has not yet faced a rivalry that doesn't have that an analogous problem considering its own antagonist! Just think about that.
