I wonder how many of our perfects will take Trainers over Mario, and how many take Cloud over Link.

And I must say I'm impressed by Mario/Bowser. If this finishes at 67%, that'll be twice in a row they've "matched" Link from last year.

Perfects with bad tiebreakers will probably take upsets like Trainers over Mario or Cloud over Link. Still think we'll finish with around 50 though.

The bigger Mario/Trainers looks, the worse it is for Cloud. The last thing he needs is a huge Nintendo match to bring more Nintendo fans to the site.

A Sora upset would have wiped out the perfects. Since Sora couldn't pull it off, the perfects went perfect instead. The top tiers overwhelmingly favoured Squall winning the match so only a handful of brackets within 5 points of perfect got the match wrong.

6 people fell off the Top 50. MegatokyoED, hylianknight3, Zicore, _Regaro_, MarvelousGerbil and INCEPTlON did not have Squall Leonhart vs. Seifer Almasy winning the match.

Ike vs. Black Knight is literally in the upper half of the first quarter stats.

It would make sense.

X/Zero beating Sonic/Robotnik also makes sense, so it's hard to say.

If zero went with Sora, I'm guessing zero go with Samus.

Not so BOLD PREDICTION: We keep all 61 perfects through this entire quarterfinal round.

Samus is a far more "debatable" match and she at least has the whole noble nine aura, or at least she used to. I can see at least two or three people picking Samus there.

Link and Samus are having tea at Hyrule Castle.

Link: So, Samus, what is the news from abroad?
Samus: Sir, Mario is duplicating your victories from last year. Last round he defeated Sonic copying your strategy from last year, and our latest reports are that he is dismantling Megaman X using your ingenius method from last year.
Link: .........indeed? How fast is he pulling off these victories?
Samus: He's clocking in at just about the same speed you showed last year. Of course, sir, you were showing off and toying with your opponents, I know that.
Link: .........the same speed as me........very well, Samus, I've got work to do. This tea is over.

~A deserted parking lot in the worst slums of Midgar at night~

Red: I really don't think we should be here at night.
Blue: He'll show up, don't worry.
Red: What if he kidnaps us, or kills us?

Green: I am arrived.
Blue: Do you have the secret weapon?
Green: Yes, I do. Keep it inside this platinum pokeball until it is time. Do you understand?
Red: Yes.
Green: Good.

Also, congrats to Squall for two straight contests of winning a match despite losing in the U.S.

Not an easy feat!

Interesting, the DSV now has higher average vote intake than the ASV (using the time periods defined in the chart). My guess is using an ASV of 3-8 PM, it would probably still be higher than the DSV, but not by much. And in another year, that may be gone too.

That would explain why the ASV seems more diluted this year.

Damn, if Sora/Riku had pulled it off I'd be coming first in the battle challenge =/

Mario/Bowser finish the hour 0.01% off from where they were at the freeze.

At the time of our last age poll, we still had about 17% of the site under 18 at the time. I'll be willing to bet that falls to below 10% within the next 3 years.

Though I wonder how much better the ASV would have been today if we still had a 3:00 AM start time.

...I was on the leaderboard with that bracket too?

Yep, you did. You entered the leader in 34th place after Alucard/Dracula beat Frog/Magus and stayed in 34th until you fell off.
