I think Alucard/Dracula or Frog/Magus has a non-negligible chance of doing better than this because there won't be any SFF involved.

Round 3 of the last Character Battle was pretty bad. Only Sephiroth/Missingno and Squall/Auron were within 55/45 and we saw several 70%+ showings.

Once again, making comparisons between this contest and traditional 1-on-1 contests is a bad idea. No way Link puts up this on Mega Man 1-on-1.

This is more like the Series Contest than anything, where the top tier "rivalries" just obliterate anything that isn't remotely in their league.

Biggest Blowouts by Round (excludes 128 entry brackets and 4-ways):
Round 1
LoZ vs Adventure - 95.20%
Round 2
Mega Man vs Serious Sam - 91.84%
Round 3
LoZ vs Metroid (Series) - 84.70%
Round 4
Link vs Scorpion - 75.98%
Round 5
Link vs Mega Man - 67.61%
Round 6
Link vs Mario - 62.53%

Too bad that Round 2 record should be pretty much impossible to beat.

I'm not convinced of that... adding in two villains really will sway this many people to vote for Link instead? Are they voting for Ganondorf or anti-voting Wily? Rivalries might matter, but against already strong characters I don't think it does as much.

So you really think Link beats Mega Man this much worse than he beats Mega Man X, Luigi, or Sonic?

And besides, it's not that hard to like Mega Man better than Link but think Link/Ganondorf is a better "rivalry" than Mega Man/Wily.

Well, yeah, this sort of blowout is strangely impressive and it's almost fun to watch him skyrocket against high level competition.

That's why Link was so boring in 2010. He couldn't manage anything remotely on this level last year.

This is an unnatural boost regardless of a game release. It's either the format or the number of voters or some combination. Considering we have less than half the voters from the games contests... you would have to assume that would end up playing some sort of role.

It's possible, but I think it's more likely that the strength of games and series are coming into play here, and a tripling (if not a lot worse) is something that the Zelda series would manage on Mega Man. Remember that Ganon is in like half a dozen Zelda games, including some of the most popular (OoT, LttP, TP). He is as encompassing of his series as any other villain barring Bowser.

FNV | 50.26% | 49.74% | 9919 | (1:00-6:00)

Frog and Magus need pics that are sprite centric. The primary images shouldn't be artwork, or they will NOT have a truly close match.

The sprites need to be the left/right focus. Not in the middle only. This can't be emphasized enough! :)

If you had to choose between an 128-character four-way Female Villains Contest, all matches 24h, or this being the last contest ever, which would you choose?

I mean, are there even 128 Female Villains really out there? Maybe between all of Board 8, we could come up with them, but that's A LOT of fodder.

Ultimecia, Glados, Jill Valentine(not sure if she is eligible), Carmen Sandiego, Sarah, The Boss, Shodan, Schala, Alma, Eve. Incredibly weak field, not sure if i can even name 30 notable female villain.
