discuss whether a match picture is good or bad all the time regardless
of the effect on the results of the contest. Even if it doesn't have an
effect on the results of the match, I don't agree with the practice of

and Magus were expected to get to the division finals, and they were
the Board 8 favorites to win the division. If they lose - especially if

Looks like the Trainers will wipe the floor with Samus badly. Too bad they'll run into the Mario brick wall. Wonder how Trainers would have done vs. Cloud/Sephiroth. don't think the Trainers have changed in strength much, if at all. They
looked 'bad' in Round 1 because they aren't the type of entity to score
super big 80%+ blowouts, especially against entities totally different
from them (Nintendo cutesy JRPG vs. Western mature RTS). Think of them like Cloud, except they have an excellent early vote instead of a bad one. Pokemon always hulks up when it meets tough competition. --- Black Turtle did a pretty good job. |

Hey I was on the leaderboard? Didn't even know. What position? I'm not sure off memory. I'll look it up for you when I get back home. I don't think the Trainers have changed in strength much, if at all. GSC
ended up looking fine against Majora. The people taking it to win the
contest knew they were reaching as GSC couldn't even beat MGS in a very
favorable 4-way poll (Round 1). The fact that it didn't appear to be

What makes you think they aren't the type to score huge blowouts? I don't think we've seen enough of them to say that for sure. I don't think Pokemon is universally liked like Zelda or Mario. There are still people out there who just don't want to vote for it under any circumstances. They won't get anti-voted nearly as badly as something like FF7, but I think it still exists. --- Black Turtle did a pretty good job. |
I
always thought GSC performed pretty well against Majora. Considering it
went on to win the whole thing, a 55-45 loss is really not that bad at
all. It was only weak because our expectations were overinflated. Also
consider GSC is no RBY, and there's a lot of people who think GSC is the
worst in the series (stunning, I know), and GSC's performance is quite
respectable. Disappointing, but that's about it. Still can't figure out what people's beef with today's picture is. Most everyone won't even know that's not actually Samus, and otherwise I still think the pic looks pretty badass. The background makes it look as if there was actual action going on. The lower part of the pic looks as if the Bosses had just failed at high fiving, and IMO is the true bad part of the picture. I'd go as far as saying Samley is one of my favorite Ulti pics this contest. --- Surskit .-#Elements of Water#-. |

I don't care about the Samus picture, and I don't think it gives an unfair advantage or disadvantage to Samus. I can see why people are unhappy that it isn't even a picture of Samus though. On the bright side, now we can hope to slip in Dark Link next character battle. Let's keep in mind that Revan scored a hair over 49% in the US, and yes, Terra did end up damn beastly. Revan could have probably taken either Frog or Magus in a day match. SBAllen allowed Dark Samus for Samus, I would imagine he would allow
Dark Link for Link. He should really just allow Dark Link as a separate

He probably only allowed Dark Samus because he had no idea, and/or no other pics were submitted so he had no choice. I do not think he'd allow Dark Link for Link because he'd know for sure it was not Link. Given
how boring the battle contest has gotten this contest with no upsets
happening and the potential for 20+ perfects to end with a perfect
Battle Score what would guys think about potentially implementing an
Oracle style contest as opposed to the battle contest. Obviously this
would run a lot of the same way maintaining interest until the very end
and we would not have the hivemind of perfect scores we have now. It
would be a way of having people keep coming to update the percentages
but not quite as simple as a standard pick em which is too similar to
the bracket contest. So two fact or fictions about the boring state of this contest... Fact or Fiction: You would support an Oracle style contest replacing the Battle Contest for the next Character Battle. Fact or Fiction: Mario beating Link with some sort of rivalry boost would save this contest. |

chance. I consider Cloud and Squall's team clear favorites, but not
guarantees to win. Those two matches are more in doubt than anything in
Round 4, anyway. Assuming Snake doesn't pull off the big upset in a
couple days, Mario, Trainers, Link, and Cloud will be 100% guaranteed to
