The only way a Female Villains contest could be remotely interesting is if instead of facing each other, all the female villains faced Link, every day. Whoever can manage to break 20% wins.

Actually thinking about it, has anyone else noticed that all of the characters with extreme board votes dominated 2002, and all the characters that don't sucked? Mega Man/Seph is a prime example. With the votals getting lower, and the only people remaining on the site the hardcores from yesteryear, we may see a return to Mario being able to beat Cloud and other fun results.

Cloud got more votes in losing that 2002 match than any character had ever gotten in a contest match prior to that day. I'm fairly sure he got more votes than any previous poll option in any Gamefaqs poll too. As anomalous as that poll was though, in my opinion just as much or more credit for Cloud's being underrated in the final stats has to go to SFF in Link/Mario. Mario was legitimately very strong in the 2nd half of that contest (votals doubled from the first half, so he was probably quite a different character strengthwise).

So, I need a general consensus here. I'm one of the 68 perfect battle brackets left, but my tiebreaker is absolutely pitiful. (It's like 104,XXX, I don't know what I was thinking)

Now, I'm seriously thinking about taking Frog/Magus tomorrow, as I think it's my only way of getting a prize.

If anyone is willing to help, could you guys offer up some reasoning behind your respective picks tomorrow? I'm just interested to see if anyone else is thinking like I am right now.

Looking at the Guru contest entries, a lot of people have really bad tiebreakers. I had 80000 which I thought was pretty bad but it seems I might be in the top 20% regarding tiebreakers. You could also bank on people committing battle bracket suicide on an upset pick because they don't realize that their bad looking tiebreaker is better than it looks.

Your tiebreaker is pretty bad, though. If you want to pick an upset pick Frog/Magus over Alucard/Dracula or Cloud/Sephiroth over Link/Ganondorf are probably the best bets right now. There's also some support for Sora/Riku over Squall/Seifer.

Thing is, I think Frog/Magus is the only upset left that could feasibly happen. All the other ones I see as huge longshots.

Ah, you know what? I'm going for it. I'd rather go down swinging then go perfect and end up gettin' squat.

I have 70something. take that, perfect bracket!

if you go cookie the rest of the way, you probably can't win a prize. there will be at least 30 of us picking that. Frog may be your only option unless you believe in Sora or Samus.

I am doubting Alucard. Dracula kinda sucks, he's an unknown, and they got pushed by PW >_>

Its the match with the most upset potential and if it comes off you're in a in a 5-10 way battle for supremacy rather than 50-60.

Guru contest is based on what we thought pre-contest. Red/Blue over Samus is a Guru upset but you won't find too much support for Samus winning anymore.

Why isn't anyone suggesting Trainers > Mario, that's gotta be more likely than Link losing or Sora > Squall

If I was in the Battle bracket I would go cookie all the way, but would stick to Samus > Trainers

But what really changed for Alucard vs Frog though? This site loves jRPGs, and Dracula is weak. I don't think Alucard's last match was all that impressive. And if we're going to compare games CT is obviously a lot stronger than SOTN.

Mario is a very high mark to beat. Even when Charizard went on a tear last contest, Mario stopped him cold. Charizard overperformed by quite a bit but still cleanly lost. Red/Blue still have a chance if they build up a bandwagon but it's going to be very tough to actually win.

Yeah, if you have a really high tiebreaker, and you don't think there's gonna be any upsets, I would just bank. Better than making a prediction you don't believe in.

Chrono Trigger the game is really strong but Frog and Magus aren't. Dracula is an unknown and Alucard is way stronger than Frog or Magus. Alucard/Dracula weren't that impressive against Phoenix/Edgeworth but Frog/Magus nearly lost to Chell/GLaDOS. Frog/Magus were only slight favourites over Alucard/Dracula to begin with in the Guru and most seem to believe it's going to be a fairly close match.

I think it makes sense that Mega Man would be hurt pretty badly by rivalry factor here.

"Mega Man" the character and "Mega Man" the series are also representative of most Mega Man sub-series, most notably Mega Man X.

"Mega Man vs. Wily" is not representative of Mega Man X. Possibly others as well but I haven't played those.
